First of all, it's one game.

And for people to go from "Most NBA-ready prospect, average nearly 8/9/10 assists, all-star/superstar" to "he needs a couple seasons" after one game is interesting.

I didn't say it was bad. I didn't say they shouldn't change their mind. I said it was interesting. Mainly because people wanted to draft him because he was so NBA-ready.

    FWIW - I still think he's NBA-ready. Probably needs about 1/2 - 2/3 a season to adjust.

Honestly.... I thought he was NBA ready. I have been a little disappointed. I still think he's going to be good, but the idea that we could have started him next to Dame looks completely stupid right now.

I still think he's going to average 8 assists per game. He got guys some wide open looks last night that they weren't hitting. Simons and Grant should be knocking those down.

Yep. Scoot coming off the bench behind Dame would have been awesome. If we could have gotten some more talent elsewhere...

One game doesn't mean much but I wonder if Amen would have been better and could have started him with Ant and Sharpe. Scoot was the consensus pick and anyone would have taken him at 3.

None of the rookies other than Lively had a particularly impressive game. That's not the point and I'm only wondering out loud. I think Scoot will be the better player, but a small part of me wonders.

He's 19. Not fair to judge him against other rookies that came in at age 22 like Lillard. A lot of college players don't really even take off in college until their Jr year. Russell Westbrook really didn't put up impressive numbers his 2nd year in college.

Everyone knows I wasn’t on the Scoot train and I still think he’s NBA ready.

I think people who thought he would be an impact player day 1 probably weren’t being honest with themselves.

After half a season if he still looks like this, then sure, I’d understand the change in narrative.

    After one game? Who cares.

I can’t talk about Amen without starting WW3, but, ASSUMING that both are going to take 2-3 years to develop … I wonder how that would change draft boards.

*Most* people had Scoot higher because he was seen as NBA-ready right now.

Hell, our own GM was saying “he isn’t a normal rookie”.

That said, Amen isn’t ready to start right now. He was a legitimate “give him time” prospect.

And I still highly doubt Scoot will take as long to develop as Amen.

Plus I think we were seeing first game jitters. He settled down toward the end of the game.

Everyone expected Amen to suck for 2-3 years because of 1) completely broken shot and 2) level of competition.

The issue is confidence and pressing too hard.

    Where is this confidence?

Folks are over analyzing. It's called being a rookie. He's already improved. Give it half a season before making any conclusions.

I don’t think he has improved at all. That’s not to say he won’t, but he has progressively looked worse in every single game.

I’m starting to really lean on the scoot needs to come off the bench movement. He has been horrible so far and needs time to learn the nba game. He isn’t nba caliber atm not to say he can get there but I think it would benefit him.
