no. his career is clearly that of a bust after two mediocre performances. randolph childress 2.0. except childress could shoot the rock.
Childress was my favorite Blazer that stunk. I went to a game, and RC dropped 16 and everyone was hugging him. It was special, I was meant to be there.
That dude cut in front of me to buy the last copy of Waverace 64 at Electronics Boutique at Lloyd Center when I was a kid.
What people don't realize is that nobody is asking to see 48 minutes of greatness from Scoot We're only asking for some flashes of greatness... Some flashes of athleticism But so far we haven't seen nothing Remember Shaedon last year? He was 19 too and he didn't even play in college But still you could see him did something crazy nearly every game that made you feel excited about what he could become What really scares me about Scoot is his athleticism/explosiveness We knew he couldn't shoot but you can work on your jumper But the athleticism/explosiveness must be there from the start He's nowhere near Ja/Wall/Rose/Westbrook
I'm giving him 10 games to show us something. If he continues like this I would be worried. That said, it seems his biggest problem is fouls becoming an issue and then getting rattled due to it. Consider, he was a mega star in the G-League, now he's dealing with NBA speed and opening against Westbrook, Kawhi and PG13 probably didn't help his confidence. Two of the best disruptors in the league in PG and Kawhi roaming, the margin for error on passes was razor thin, then he got in his own head. I still am sure he will be fine. It's an inauspicious start, but he will be fine and eventually will be great. I was never super on the Scoot as god train, I was always far more intrigued by Sharpe and I still am, but I think they can and will, both be great. I mean Michael Carter-Williams beat champion Lebron and almost posted a quadruple double. If I recall correctly Durant who was a similar age to Scoot laid an egg and actually looks like a mediocore chucker most of his rookie season. I'm not worried, but I do want to see him dominate at least one game out of the next 10 and I think he not only can, but he will.
He's shown bursts of speed especially at the end of the first game he blew by his defender with ease. It seems to me its 99.9% mental and it will pass. I know you literally exist to troll this board, so I'm not trying to convince you or others who always look for downsides, just calling out that specific statement. I don't feel we have seen him do what he can fully do in terms of speed and athleticism. It's a mental thing.
Everybody outside this board is seeing what I'm seeing If somebody says something "negative" about the Blazers is a troll I guess Scoot is as fast as John Wall In his rookie year!!!! That makes me more of a Blazers fan?? Go watch rookie Wall highlights and then you can see what fast is... I really haven't seen Scoot go past people that fast... The only flash he showed tonight was the crossover against Wagner who's not really an athletic defender and still it's not like Scoot looked that fast...
Im still underwhelmed. He can’t blow by his man. He can’t shoot. He gets blocked just about every time he goes to the rim. His passing ability has been oversold. He fouls with the best of them and keeps a mean warm seat. With that said, he’s just a baby. A 19 year old. He’s got a positive disposition and seems to be a great team player. You know his coach way back when was never flashy. A lot of his success was thugging it out. But it toom him awhile to get going. From this standpoint I have hope. Maybe he can become that late bloomer. He deserves a real chance to define himself with out all judgment. I’ll refrain from calling him a bust for now even with a strong sense of doubt
I thought RC was gonna kill it in the NBA. He had that swagger at Wake Forest. I followed him through for 2-3 seasons. I thought he’d at least have the career Damon did. I remember him on a break burning a dude, waving a dude on as he pulled up and dialed up a 3 and thought that he would do the same in the NBA.
Scoot will likely not win ROY. it will be Chet or Wemby, assuming no lengthy injuries. but he should be in the conversation
For the record: at pick number 3 Scoot was the obvious choice It's not like I'm saying: "We should have picked X or Y" Everybody who root for the Blazers hopes for the best, but AT THE MOMENT it's not hating stating the facts, even with all the mitigating circumstances
This kinda stuff is your MO its the body of work not the specific one. If you want to be beaten down about it go ahead. I trust Schmitz and what basically everyone in the league thought about where Scoot should be drafted. I’ve never made claims about Scoot being at the level of the all time elite athletes you’ve mentioned. Might as well compare Ayton to Shaq or Sharpe to MJ. Scoot will be fine, but by all means do you.
You dont get it my man. You aren't a troll for saying something negative. You are a troll when you ONLY show up to say something negative and then DISAPPEAR when anything positive happens. You are full on troll bro.
This draft in general is looking more and more like Wemby and everyone else. If we hadn't taken Scoot we would've taken a Thompson Twin and they're not exactly setting the world on fire either.
I still have a ton of faith in Scoot, while it's been a pretty underwhelming start to the season we have to remember he is just 19 years old only 2 games in the NBA now. I think he will figure it out. He does need to cut the crap with fouling though, he will never amount to anything if he keeps committing stupid fouls.
