I'm not going to argue with the picks of Maroney and Jackson, because I know that Pioli, and Billechek know what there doing, but I do think we should have taken a different route. I wish we had taken Manny Lawson, and defensive end from NC State who would have shifted to OLB in our 3-4, with our #21, then traded up in the second round to draft Lendale White. I don't completely understand why we went with Maroney. Corey is good for another two or so seasons, so why did we settle for Maroney? I think we could have waited a year to get a new back, or waited until the second round to find our guy. Also, why didn't we go with DeAngelo Williams?
Belicheck is a real head scratcher sometimes man. Why he went for Maroney over Williams is still beyond me, but I would think it has to do with Maroneys better abilities as a reciever out of the backfield and that for a small back, Williams trys to outpower people and that wouldnt work out as well in the NFL as it did in NCAA.I also did find it a bit weird that you didnt do anything in the way of a DE/OLB in the McGuinest mold, but I would have to assume that Belicheck has some sleeper up his sleeve for that exact role if he hasnt addressed it already, and well probably see early on Day 2 of the draft.
Maroney fits our system a lot better then Williams. Williams has no hands to speak of, while Maroney does. White in a Pats uniform, maybe on madden 2007, not in real life. And we are really high on last years 5th round pick Ryan Claridge, who was hurt all of last year. And one last thing, that Jackson pick was amazing
