I love Herb Jones, but I feel like we might have our SFoTF in Camara. What we need is a PF who is young. I also get wings are somewhat interchangeable, but I really want at least a 6'9" guy who is bulky at PF, or EXTREMELY long and athletic with that height. My preference is a 3 and D PF who is 6'10"-6'11" with a good wingspan and mobility.

I don't think that is wise because that sets him up for bully ball down low with all the 6'7-9" and bulky SF's in the west like Kawhi and LeBron. Sure, those guys are extremes just illustrating the point. While we still have Simons, if we must start him (debatable), then sure we can briefly have Rim Shaedy at the SF. I'd much prefer to start Scoot, Sharpe, Camara and Ayton and figure out how to get a PF from another team for Grant and/or Simons. We can start Grant for now and Sharpe at the SF until we make a midseason trade, I just don't like Sharpe at SF long term, he will dominate other SG's at both ends, but having him at SF means he's going to take a lot more punishment on the defensive end.

Obviously, we trade Oden for the next Buck, just like we did with Bowie. It's about time we get some value out of Oden, right?

That doesn't answer who the next Buck is, though.

Any player other than Ayton has to be able to hit open 3-pointers because Scoot is going to create a lot of open shots from the perimeter.
Kind of is standard for the NBA anyway.

    Some notes:

Win Shares are cumulative, and at this rate, Shae could hit 8.2 WS which is solidly middle of the pack (4th).
Our team isn't a team that will win 2 out of every 5 games though, so his WS will be lower.
I only see two busts on this list of 8 players, which is pretty good.
Other than Ball and Zion, I would love to have any of those guys on my team at 20 years old.

start Brogdon at SF. He's a better option than Simons.

Look at the company Sharpe is in there. Yes, it's only five games. But I have little doubt he can average 24/6/5 this season if Billups realizes what he has. With that, Sharpe is the only one on the list that did not start all of the games played. If Billups puts him on the bench or at SF when Ant comes back, meet me in the melt down thread.

The one player that doesn't fit too well is Thybulle. He really should be defending guards not "small" forwards or guards the size of Cade Cunningham.
Thybulle seems to have the most limited role if he can't shoot 3-pointers.

I was thinking Dame was Kiki in that scenario. Kiki was also our leading scorer at the time (similar to Dame) and wanted a trade to escape a 'terrible' situation with the Blazers.

I'm not sure I understand what a lot of you guys are seeing, but I've never considered Grant to be a PF. Not trying to be an a-hole. If Grant and Camara are the starting forwards, I think Grant is the SF and Camara is the PF. I think Camara can play minutes at the SF, like when he's on the court with Jabari. But, in the context of what those positions role's are traditionally, I think it's pretty obvious that Camara is the PF beside Grant.

I think it is more about matchups. There are a lot of teams with long stretch 4's...Grant with his 7'3" wing span is our best defender against that
A traditional PF can't cover the perimeter, which is why we don't see many. But to your point, yeah Camari can guard most 4s as well.
On offense, however, I still want to see 3 players on the court who can handle the ball and 3 who can shoot from the outside.

I am certainly not a high IQ Bball mind. The one thing I do observe, is statements about what position a guy actually is....in a vacuum. Matchups matter.

Saying a guy is a SF, rather than a PF...depends on:

Who the opposing lineup is when said player in on the court
Whether you are focused on offense or defense of said player
How said player is being defended (man or zone)
Pace of the game when said player is on the court

It's like judging a TE in the NFL by catches...or size....or being open....but not seeing the differences in yardage between the 20's........and efforts in a goal line big package.

I mean, Grant is going to be way up there in scoring for us, and might be leading scorer by the trade deadline
