It's my birthday today, but today also marks the one year anniversary of losing Lanny. I remember as though it were yesterday. I was sitting in the dark in my class, the kids nestled down for nap time.

Finally able to take a breath and a break, I checked my phone for notices and birthday wishes. That was when my eyes caught the title of a thread I had dreaded for sometime. Lanny had passed. I sat there in that dark classroom and cried.

I knew Lanny didn't have long. It had gotten to the point that his doctors said their was nothing left to do. He had posted about his heart and his impending death. He devoted himself to kindness and exuded bravery and hopefulness even in the face of death.

That is the mark of one hell of a man. I gladly share this day with him, and attempt to follow his example. Every November 9th when I turn another year old, and have lived yet another year on this Earth, I will remember him, and honor his name.

I hope his wife Tammy and all who knew him are well. Remember his humor, his kindness, the stories he shared with us. We were so lucky to have known that dude. Wherever you may be today, lift a drink to Lanny. May he continue to rest in peace.

RIP Lanny! God damn, I miss him. He was a good man, a good fan, and a great friend. My only complaint is he's probably the reason why the Beavers beat the Ducks in the Civil War last year.

And a huge thank you to all of you who left kind messages about him in the forum and those who attended his funeral. Your words and attendance meant the world to his wife, Tammy, and his family.

RIP Lanny. Thought I still had a picture of the view from the site? I'll look for it and post it?

I met Lanny once, and spoke with him for hours. I was really looking forward to meeting him again.

A huge loss. But he gave so much. He was just an incredible person.

Thanks for making this thread @Chris Craig!

    RIP @Lanny

Rest in Peace Lanny. I was thinking about him the other day and now I know why. Much love to his family and close friends.

I'll need to remember to look up his plot and place a red and black pinwheel the next time I go visit my grandparents, assuming that's at Willamette National Cemetery..

RIP Lanny. Gone but never forgotten.

Lanners was a great man indeed! He never left any stones unturned. Kinda like yours truly.
