Its funny to see alot of teams trying to mirror what the Steelers have done in the past converting QB's to WR's. In this draft alone, there was Robinson, McNeal, Haggans, Smith. This one guy over on the Bengals board is talking much smack on how McNeal is gonna run over the Steelers and other teams.....quite funny. [IMG]

You're acting like this is something new....and something that the Steelers have invented.Several of the more athletic Quarterbacks have gone on to do something else in the Pro's (Such as Former Nebraska Quarterback Scott Frost switching to Saftey). While Randel El is now becoming the poster child of such a move, its not like its anything new. This is becoming much more common because in recent years, there have been more and more athletic Quarterbacks at these colleges and players who can run a 4.4, 4.5, but might not be talented enough or have the size to be an NFL QB, but can be a better fit on some rosters at a different position.

That would be cool if he did play QB for gadget plays.

The reason it's become more popular is because athletic running QB's have become more popular in the NCAA. A guy like Vick, or Young, or Robinson can win with their feet in the NCAA, but it's a lot harder in the NFL so most make the switch to WR/RB/RS/CB/etc<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Nebkreb @ May 1 2006, 07:07 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>brad smith is gonna play QB and WR for the Jets</div>He said he'd still love to play QB, but he's willing to accept a WR role. He'll be a WR but throw a few passes a year on trick plays.

We have former LSU QB Marcus Randall who converted to FS and has seen some playing time and he's a great special teams player, too.

Shockely is just as good, but just got injured.</div>You think Young will be another Vick-type QB, but bigger, faster, and a stronger arm?</div>1. He's not nearly as fast as Vick He's speed is actually closer to Kyle Boller's.Michael Vick Ran a 4.25. Vince Young ran a 4.48. Kyle Boller ran a 4.52.2. Bigger, sure, Bigger.3. Stronger Arm? Well, as Vince Young didn't throw for speed at the Combine, we'll never know for sure. But lets take this into account: His arm is not considered stronger than Jay Cutler's. Cutler threw a 60 MPH Ball speed at the Combine. Michael Vick's Ball Speed was 67 MPH. Vince Young lost to Brodie Croyle in the distance throw challenge. Brodie Croyle has a 58 MPH ball speed. So Young's arm is weaker than Brodie Croyle's.Croyle's is weaker than Cutler's.Cutler's and Croyle's are weaker than Mike Vick's.Therefore: Vince Young's arm is weaker than Mick Vick's.So no. I think Vince Young will be a Bigger, Slower, Dumber (which is apparently possible), weaker armed, more innaccurate version of Michael Vick.

Okay, fair enough. But I think the Wonderlic test is stupid. I saw the sample it was math I did in like 5th or 6th grade

You don't become the #3 passer in the nation by accident or by running all the time.Have you two ever seen Vince Young play? He's ten times the passer that Michael Vick is, regardless of how many MPH he can throw the ball. I'm sure Vick can throw it harder than a lot of other QBs, but I'd still rather have Steve McNair, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Ben Rothelisberger, etc. under center than Mike Vick.

As I'm sure you saw, the question was posed on if I thought Vince would be a faster, bigger, version of Vick with a stronger arm.The answer is that his arm isn't near as strong, his legs not near as fast. He's more comparable to Kyle Boller or Donovan McNabb.
