The Lakers didn't settle for 3s and took it to the hoop. They were rewarded for this. You can argue that all day long, which I'm sure you will.
So next game maybe we should shoot 20 more 3s than the Jazz and watch them take it to the hoop.....wonder what the outcome will be? Maybe we can blame the refs again?
those gosh darn Jazz have had crooked refs since the Stockton/Malone era. Hornacek is a flopper. Utah cheats! go Blazers
the Lakers are good at drawing fouls. LAL is ranked #3 in the league at getting to the line. The Blazers foul a lot, 5th most PF's in the NBA. Billups "these guys play hard" will smack anything that moves. The Blazers were a bit outmatched in the painted area. Anthony Davis was getting the ball deep and causing problems. Hachimura, Reddish, Woods were secondary cutters. When the mosh pit around AD commenced, Davis, D'Angelo and Rivers made the right reads. It's just 2 different styles of basketball, with 1 team having an 7ft All-Star creator, and the other team playing frantic scrappy ball and toeing the 3pt line. Every outside jumper in Portland is considered "a good look" under Coach Billups. While the Lakers run a system to get the ball to bigs and slashers in the paint. Not the prettiest game in the world. The Lakers sucked and still beat the Blazers. Rematch .... SOON
I'm not talking about the number of fouls. I'm talking about the blatantly terrible calls. Specifically, when the Blazers were on a 10-12pt run and caught up and had all of the momentum. Very clear, blatantly obvious, terrible calls that even Laker fans and announcers knew should have gone against the Lakers. Multiple plays in succession. To break Portland's momentum.
So let's just get you on the record....you believe that the NBA officials wanted to help the Lakers win last night?
I literally had a conversation with Monty McCutchen right before we left on this trip asking for more details about the new flopping rule and how we can help show them what they are looking for on reviews. Next time I see him I will mention the obvious favoring that the Blazers opponents have received over the last 40 years and see what he says.
I didn't say that. You can read what I said. There were several deliberately terrible calls to end the Blazers run. I don't pretend to know the reasoning, but NBA refs are good enough to make those calls 100% of the time. They either deliberately made bad calls/no calls against the Blazers or they should be fired for being terrible at their job. It makes the NBA less enjoyable, and we all know that NBA officials do these kinds of things (Tim Donaghy). The players all know it. The fans know it. Again, it's why I don't miss watching more NBA basketball. It takes the joy out of it.
I'm not sure if it has anything to do with winning games. Maybe it's building/maintaining stars, or wanting more drama to goose the ratings... Whatever it is, it happens and it sucks.
What happened to Anthony Davis on this foul? It was a simple double team by Grant and Sharpe and somehow AD ends up looking like he was sucker punched. Sharpe is clearly bewildered. I would really like Blazer Broadcasting to show this kind weird foul on replay instead of seeing a replay of Grant making a layup, which is what was shown when this foul occurred. Never did see what really happened or didn't happen.
we're lucky that we can see anything with Blazer broadcasting. Last night they flipped to zoomed in camera hunting for random players, while Reddish ripped the ball outta Shaedon's hands and dunked it. I'm just waiting for a face time interview with Tom Hamberblab to miss a game winning shot. Portland basketball on TV is an epidemic disaster. It's a breath of fresh air when Lamar stops talking now. He went on a 10 minute ramble about something dorky in the middle of intense 4th quarter action. Buddy... some of us were trying to watch the game.
Who does that appeal to? Are there people that take the time to watch a live Blazers' broadcast that want AT ANY POINT to NOT WATCH what they showed up to watch (and hear commentary about)? I don't get it.
Analytics would say the Blazers need to shoot more threes. They are shooting 31.8 a game. Ranked 23rd in the league. Analytics would also say they need to make more threes that they shoot. They make 30% and are ranked 28th in the league. That might get them less free throws but it will get them more points? That post looks like Christmas Time.
