yea he is slow for a wideout. He wont go top 10 unless a team really wants him badly and thinks a top 10 pick might make him think twice about throwing the baseball for a living.
Saw this a couple days ago, 49ers draft Calvin Johnson with the 3rd overall pick! Dont know what we gave to trade up there though lol.

The only reason Hass wasn't a 1st round pick (and the first WR taken) was because he's simply not fast.
I fully agree with that. Another name that should be mentioned in that sense is Jason Avant, who got drafted by the Eagles. He didn't go until second day because of his 40 time, but he has some great hands... Jerry Rice doesn't have great timed speed, look at him now.
i think jerry rice cant be compared here...i doubt any WR in the draft has the work ethic or football intelligence of jerry rice...
I was just saying, as far as speed... I'm not saying any of them will be up there with Jerry Rice. But I was just saying, it's possible for them to be successful... and maybe even superstars.

And we all know what kind of effect a 40 time has on a players draft status. Weather or not he will be a successful pro is a whole different story, and judgeing by your examples Vilma (Keyshawn at #2 WR at #1 overall) and Mike Williams (a backup with a top 10 pick) I would say speed has a big effect on it.Stanton is ok, but hes a mile behind Brohm and Quinn when it comes to quarterback prospects IMO. He'll probably run the same course as Cutler (Second round pick who gets the hype train up into mid round 1).
The whole speed/good hands thing... I must say... the game has evolved like every other sport. The game is more about speed. The fastest WRs are usually the best these days (Randy Moss, T.O., Steve Smith, Santana Moss, Chad Johnson are all fast(ish))

I was saying speed doesn't hurt them as in draft stock. When a player is truely special (a la Keyshawn and Williams) in college, then teams will overlook their 4.5 40 times.Stanton has all the tools (Unlike Young and Leinart) and is actually fairly successful in college (unlike Cutler).

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Was I the only one who saw all four NFC North teams in the top ten? That puts Minnesota in the top ten of the draft, and in the playoffs. Which is impossible.Green Bay (1st)Chicago (4th)Detroit (7th)Minnesota (9th)In the mock draft, that was where they were.
