They have been trending in that direction for a while.....and it has played up in the Pros. Has Sewell given up a sack this entire season?
https://www.pff.com/nfl/players/penei-sewell/81788 That said, up until this point Penei is a one off for NFL Duck OLineman as no other player has been close to him in college or pros. He's special. It seems like there have been more Duck OLineman making NFL rosters of late and think it's likely several of the current guys will also play on Sunday. STOMP
Last season Oregon was a very good team until Bo was hampered with a leg injury. After that point they struggled to maintain drives and the D was exposed. This year they're being much more conservative running Nix this season then last (3.8 runs per game vs 6.8 last year) saving his runs for bigger games/situations. His elite athleticism is still on display each week with movement in the pocket & behind the line of scrimmage keeping passing plays alive. Credit to the new OC Stein for protecting his General and giving other players more opportunities, but their success with a healthy Nix hasn't surprised me as we saw it last year. Being in year 2 with the coaching staff can only help and the roster is even more stacked with highly regarded talent. Somehow it has been a surprise for the media covering the Pac 12 though https://pac-12.com/article/2023/07/20/media-predicts-usc-win-2023-pac-12-football-championship STOMP
5 touchdowns by Nix in 21 minutes of game time lol. 300 yards already I want him to get 500 and 8 touchdowns before they sit him. Should only take 3 more drives.
