I get that Beaver fans are pissed off at Smith. but as a Duck fan who watched the departure of Chip Kelly, Willie the-snake Taggart, and Manboobs Cristobal I can say there's no finesse way to break the contract and leave. No gentle exit. Glass will break as the door slams there's less than a month until the first signing period for football players. Time was pressing and I'm sure MSU was pressing as well
Smith had no choice. I wish he could have stayed, but the Beavs simply don't have much to sell him on.
Bro had a built in excuse he didn't even need to talk about (the pac-12 disbanding and the uncertainty of next year and beyond, being relegated to a lesser conference) and EVERYONE would have understood: dudes leaving for stability and a paycheck. I can respect it. But no. He said he thought about it for a long time. You ain't supposed to say that, man. Damn. Like I suppose you can say he thought about it a long time because of those built in excuses/reasons, but you don't actually say it. C'mon, man!
Only thing that I really am questioning about sports and OSU is what will happen to the Baseball team? I see nothing left for Football at this point.
Every baseball home game and as many road games as possible need to be a sellout by Beaver fans during this final season of the Pac-12.
To me, like any employee there can be circumstances where you need to consider your own situation over a company. Doesn't mean you are self serving or lack loyalty. Companies and Institutions make changes all the time based on their situations w/o certain employee considerations. He did the right thing for him and his fam.
100% he did. And 100% truthful that he thought about it for a long time. But you just don't actually say it lol
So you can feel that way. Think it. Know it’s right along with everyone else but you just can’t say it. Some might not agree and call that weak and dishonest.
is that in the book: "What not to say when you leave a 5M/year job for a 7M/year job"? I wish I had that book when it happened to me
