Good win tonight outside of a few minutes, played well against a solid team. Had a lot of chances they didn't finish, and still got it done. Good bounce back from the Buffalo game.
The Breadman keeps rolling and there were several unconverted golden opportunities but a good win. I don't have a problem extending Igor, his numbers are already epic when compared to the game's greats at this point in careers. The guy I would trade is Fox before his NTC kicks in. The previous 10 game showed they can win without him against the premier teams, It would obviously be unpopular but I don't see Adam holding up to the physicality of the game.
You whine about the Rangers giving out NTC but when the opportunity comes to avoid being trapped with another you falter. I will not argue against Fox's greatness offensively - the stats don't lie but neither does his lack of size. Looking at the roster and keeping in mind that the quad concussed Chytil and Raggedy Kakko have little trade value, Fox is a blue chip who can get the Rangers almost anyone Would you trade him for McGregor? I would. The PP was 2% lower with Fox out.
I would say this about Fox, if at some point in the future the Rangers did ever decide to deal him, they would need to get a stud back as you mentioned. When you deal a player at that talent level, you need to get back a whole lot. He is one of the top 3 or 4 dmen in the whole NHL and is young and signed long-term. The one I would be nervous about locking up long-term is Lindgren. Yes, the Rangers need dmen that play his type of game, but I fear his career will be shortened due to his physical style, and he will sign a contract that won't age well.
Who cares what Fox size is? If he's one of the top 5 dmen in the league and basically avoids getting hit, what's the big issue? You wouldn't trade him anyhow for at least another 5 years since he's in his 20's anyway. Like Chuck said, Lindgren is the one i would shy away from anything longer than a few years.
