Perhaps even a triple double! Points, assists & turnovers. I think he has improved somewhat in the TO respect but still a machine.
There were plenty of people questioning that statement. I remember posting an article about how many missed dunks he had and the premise of the article was, “freak athletes don’t miss half their dunks”.
well, we know how pictures can be pretty deceptive based upon angles and a lot of other factors. Scoot does look a little bigger than Dame. He might be 6'3 w/o shoes; but I'm a bit skeptical but that really wasn't my question. You referenced some guy on Redditt claiming the NBA had updated their "official" heights....as if those were actually measured heights by unaffiliated NBA officials instead of reported heights by teams. Obviously, for players like Scoot and Brandon Miller who refused to participate in the measurements at the draft combine, it's of interest. But I'm about 90% sure that no non-blazer NBA personnel came out to Portland and ordered Scoot to remove his shoes and stand still for a measurement. Saying he's 6'3 is almost certainly Portland rounding up Sharpe is listed as 6'5. But he was measured at the combine as 6'4.25. Now, it's possible he grew; that can happen. But while it's possible it's also extremely improbable. Yeah, I know it supposedly happens all the time in the NBA; maybe it's the Mike Barrett influence with Scoot, I don't think this really matters. Whether he's 6'2 or 6'3, he's muscular with above normal mass for a PG. If he learns how to use that he can play a little taller than he is; kind of like Brogdon
Unless you're Scottie Pippen and grow 8" between 18 and 20 years of age. That's so insane to the think about...
Scoot is VERY strong. I saw him grind 6'10" 245lb Jarrett Allen all the way to the photographers during a box out. Portland has time to develop the other aspects of Henderson's game. For instance... I watched some of the first season of American Gladiators last night. Those big muscley Gladiators were getting their butts kicked. As the show progressed through the years, the Gladiators adapted to the sport, became much better. The contestants eventually became the victims of punishment. There's folks waiting for a Scoot breakout game. Those are just numbers on a sheet. Something else to look for is "uh oh, I don't wanna guard this guy."
Here are the results for the last 6 games in which Scoot the Bust has played. Without him during this span, the Blazers were 1-8.
They think they don't have to guard the guy handling the ball? Does that make sense to you? Tell me if you see anyone defending Scoot in this sequence that ends with a made 3-pointer by the Blazers. (The sequence starts at 8:32, should be queued to that point)
the last 4 wins came against teams with a combined 27-47 record; a .365 winning percentage. And, not only did Scoot return, so did Brogdon PER: Brogdon 18.8....Scoot 1.3 TS%: Brogdon .518....Scoot .401 (Brogdon at career low) Reb%: Brogdon 8.5%....Scoot 5.4% Ast%: Brogdon 38.8%....Scoot 25.3% Trn%: Brogdon 9.4%....Scoot 25.5% Ast%/Trn%: Brogdon 4.13....Scoot 0.99 Winshare/48: Brogdon +.112....Scoot -0.152 BPM: Brogdon +3.3....Scoot -12.0 now, if you consider those numbers objectively, if you were looking for a correlation=causation factor of this mini-streak, would you credit Scoot, or Brogdon?
Look at the title of this thread. I believe that Scoot has been A key element in Blazer victories, and in the last 6 games in which Scoot has played, the Blazers are 5-1.
ok now that's over, you've made a couple of posts in the thread implying that Scoot returning to action is the reason Portland has a mini-winning streak. I was suggesting it probably has a lot more to do with Brogdon returning, than Scoot. And the level of competition too at this point in time, is Scoot even better than Skyler Mays? And remember, I don't think Scoot is a bust at all
Yes, I do believe Scoot's return is the reason for Portland's mini-winning streak. He was a missing piece. Is Scoot better than Skylar Mays? I don't think you can be watching the games if you are asking that question. Brogdon and Skylar Mays led the team to what will likely be the worst loss of the season when the Blazers were outscored 26-2 to end the game against a banged-up Memphis squad. Brogdon returning by itself is just another piece, like Scoot. A healthy Brogdon and Mays was not a winning PG tandem. A healthy Brogdon and Scoot (with the rest of the team mostly healthy) has been terrific so far. The whole team, including the coach, should get credit for the wins. I think all of the current rotation players would be missed if injured. Mays is not a rotation player.
First of all, it was obviously a joke. Secondly, you've gone full fanboy and I love it. BUT still I think you're kind of trippin. As of now, Scoot is a turnover waiting to happen...that, or a (badly) missed shot. I'm not discounted his passing, though. He is a good passer, it's just the windows are much smaller at this level. Still, you can kind of see something impressive there sometimes. In the clip you highlighted, he travels immediately, but he also shows some awareness and some speed. If the game slows down for him, we'll all obviously be delighted. For me, anything is great. Clearly, the G-League isn't a good farm system. Players who look dominant there, seem to look (understandably) lost in the NBA. I'm hoping Scoot eventually bucks the trend... EDIT I wanted to add something: Watching him now, it's hard to imagine he's the same player he was with the Ignite, or even that half in Summer League he played. THIS is encouraging to me. He has hardly even looked to do much so far this year. It's as if the cold shooting spell has just killed his confidence... So, I tease, but I'm still optimistic. I expect if it clicks for Scoot, it'll really click.
The Blazers certainly lose that game against Cleveland if Scoot doesn't outplay Brogdon. I agree with your overall point.
I honestly don’t know how anyone can say they aren’t seeing growth from this kid every week. He’s getting better every damn game.
