Telfair was listed as honorable mention, sure, outside of the top 25. That's awesome (although, again, that was written 22 years after he was drafted, so I don't take it as anything more than one dude's opinion). But he wasn't even the best player in his draft class on that list (Dwight Howard was)... that at one point when he was, like, 15, he was considered a great prospect is wonderful. As he got older he clearly capped out as a borderline lottery pick. And Jalen Green averaged 10.4 ppg in his one year in the G League and had a 1:1 assist:TO ratio... Scoot averaged over 14 and 16 in his two years and was 2:1 this past year... and Henderson was a year younger his first year in the G League. In spite of all of this, Green went #2 in the draft, and it just reinforces that Scoop deserves the props he's getting.
Walker brings some of the same non-scoring/winning intangibles that Winslow does (when he plays), but Jarace is a full size larger and a better run/jump athlete. STOMP
meh I disagree a ton man...The European scene has some good players and their overall team defense concept it better than the G-League. Plus, you went out and made a statement about the game Scoots and stats he put up vs Wambanyana and a quote from him lol...I see you didnt mention anything about that..Those guys were not near NBA level, yes Scoot put up nice numbers but your overblowing it
Only if you assume that taking Jalen Green at #2 wasn't a huge mistake. And that would make an ass out of you and me. That said, I really don't know jack about Scoot. Here's hoping if he's great that we get him and keep him, and if he isn't that we don't.
NOTHING would make me happier than a forum full of “You don’t know shit you old fuck” posts after the draft
Why does that matter? There are plenty of college players that have great skills for the college game, but it doesn't translate to the NBA. Doesn't mean they weren't amazing in college, but they're not that special at the next level. Marcus Mariota, I absolutely love the guy, but he was tailormade for the blur offense at the college level. He was okay in the NFL, but not anywhere near the superstar player that he was for Oregon. Someone can be a Hall of Fame player at one level, but really just a mediocre talent at the next level.
I was always intrigued by Amen but Ausar is the one doing a lot better, isn't he? Looks as if only TBPup was considering him as a better defender and shooter than Amen.
And taller and longer, which is probably more relevant here. I'm still hopeful Scoot can be an All-Star caliber player, but right now he's not really showing the signs Amen just did, and Ausar has a few times. 13 months isn't that big of a difference with fairly similar levels of competitive play.
I think every source I looked at about Amen and Ausar said Ausar was the better shooter. Defense-wise, though Amen might be quicker and have a higher ceiling, Ausar was said by some to be the more consistent defender. Where Amen was said to have the advantage was in very-high-level athleticism, and usage as a point guard and a higher ceiling overall.
And I think they just had to take Ausar out of the starting 5 because of the poor spacing. His shooting is awful, and yet he's better than Amen supposedly. Amen has a higher ceiling but Ausar is more functional.
