You can’t say anything negative about Scoot for he is the prodigal son

If he could get his fouling under control that would significantly help his development

Super hard to get a rhythm when your minutes are completely whacked out because of foul trouble

It's not foul trouble, it's Coach Trouble.

Scoot has fouled out of one game, one in which he played 34 minutes.

In the last game, Scoot played only 23 minutes and had 4 fouls.

At that rate, Scoot could have played the 34 minutes he did when he fouled out.

I don't understand this level of analysis though. He's a 19 year old rookie point guard. He hasn't played well. He's improving. It's like someone showing me the data behind why my F150 is shit at gas mileage. I don't need to see the data. I can see it with my eyes. But he IS improving.

Developing chemistry with his teammates (especially Simons, Ayton, Sharpe, Camara) is just as important as his own individual improvement.

To do that, Scoot needs to play as much as possible with those specific players.

While I agree with the sentiment, it's partially Scoot's fault.

It shows a complete lack of BBIQ to get 3 or 4 fouls in a half.

If you're sitting on 2 (or 3) fouls in the 1st or 2nd quarter, guess what? You're gonna have to actively be aware that you have to chill the fuck out.

But yes, I've said Billups should run him into the ground and if he fouls out in the first quarter, he fouls out, and I bet he'll learn a valuable lesson.

You can see the game slowing down for him. MUCH better decision making.

I said this in the game thread but I think it's worth repeating:

seems like once a week, at least, we end up saying "that was Scoot's best game"...yeah, the threshold isn't that high (although it getting higher), but he's clearly improving as the season progresses

the one grey cloud is his shooting

To go along with Scoot's big double double against Sacramento, Henderson made Sabonis tapout with an illegal wanker lock, and delivered a Tarzan rim swinging kick to Keon Ellis. The Blazers rookie PG was downright nasty tonight!

That dunk in the half court game and the 2-dribble fastbreak were impressive. He needs to learn to finish at the rim. When he does that, his game is going to take a big step forward.

he seems like someone who would be fine living in a gym and getting up loads of shots per day at a few key spots on the floor during the offseason.

Scoot is really starting to show that he does indeed have All-Star level potential. He is a LONG way from that, but he is trending in the right direction. The past few games he has been showing consistent flashes of that level of talent. That's what was missing for me earlier in the season. I didn't need to see him put it all together, I needed those flashes and I'm seeing them now.

can we all recognize that a lot of scoot’s success recently has come because the paint has opened up a tick since ant came back?

scoot is gonna need to work really hard on his jumper (questionable shot selection is not doing him any favors either) & finishing at the rim

last night (and during the season) hes been missing layups, which obviously cant happen (miss here and there is not a problem, but not in this amount) and sometimes those misses look really bad

of course, im very happy to see him slashing to the basket much more than at the beggining of the season, which is what he needs to do, cause that part of his game is surely better than his jumper (be it mid range or 3-pointer), but its a learning process, recognizing when to slash, when to attack the rim, when to kick out, when to stop (hes becoming more confident and comfortable and therefore improving and you can see it in his game)

Scoot has been playing not-terrible for the most part lately. He even played good last night. There's been improvement every month.

It's been encouraging to see that he's probably not an abysmal player. But we still don't know if we have the next Markelle Fultz on our hands. I'm not celebrating yet (or thinking about trading Simons).
