Edey will be a big slug in the NBA. Not someone who will go in the 1st round

Well, I'd gamble on him in the 2nd. He's the same size skillset as Boban, who has been in the league for a long time and is still playing. Boban has never played heavy minutes, but he puts up monster stats per minute played. (averaging 23/15 per 36) That means players of his size and skillset can be an asset.

You just said you’d use the Warriors pick on him…

A lot of people have Donovan Clingan as a late lotto pick, but I don't see what he has over Edey. He looks a bit oafy and uncoordinated to me, and doesn't put up near the numbers.

I agree, although I would hope Williams would be the GSW pick and Edey an early 2nd

Im not sure that Id agree that hed be a big slug.

I think there is a possibility that he can move as good as Nurk (last season before he lost weight), Robin Lopez, or Jokic.

I've seen Cody go #1 overall in some mocks.

edey is going to be used like a left-handed pitcher with one weird pitch who can come in and mess with the rhythm of the other team.

unless they eliminate the 3-second rule, he is going to be a selectively used drop big and will get played off the court by teams that spread you out with shooting.

I’d argue he’s slower than nurk and some of the other slower bigs in the league.

That seems to be the way many teams perceive big men these days, but that thinking has always annoyed me. What about the things they can do well? Rebound, protect the rim, set screens, score in the paint etc.

College is as 3pt oriented as the NBA isn't it.

    1. Sarr
    2. Topic (Up 1)
    3. Holland (Up 2)
    4. Williams (Up 2)
    5. Walter (Down 1)
    6. Castle (Down 4)
    7. Risacher (Up 2)
    8. Buzelis
    9. Sheppard (Up 6)
    10. Dillingham (Up 4)
    11. Dunn
    12. Bradshaw (Up 1)
    13. Clingan (Down 6)
    14. Missi (Up 10)
    15. McCuller (Up 4)
    16. Collier (Down 6)
    17. Dual (Down 5)
    18. Filipowski
    19. Brazile (Up 1)
    20. Bona (Down 4)

    - Moved Carrington off the list. Zero rim pressure.
    - Brazile is barely hanging on. I don't like some of his advanced stats.
    - If Filipowski can add 5+% to his 3P he gets a lottery grade.
    - Collier is a mess.
    - McCuller is next year's Jaime Jaquez. I want that on the record lol.
    - Missi or Bradshaw is my choice with the GS pick (unless we get Sarr).
    - I'm close to putting Sheppard top 5.

I’m really starting to like Missi as well. I could do with either guy, preferably the one that ends up lower though. I really want two wings with the 1sts.

Is Brazile a John Collins-type player? That’s what he’s looking like to me.

I honestly think you have Holland too high.

Brazile has some jaw-dropping dunks that people think of when it's his turn to be evaluated. I guess Collins is a fair comp for the rest of his game. I'll have to dig up my notes on his advanced stats but it's kind of worrying.

This draft is a mess. I shouldn't even be trying to do this until March lol. If you are looking for potential: Holland, Buzelis, Topic, Sarr are at the top. How about a safe pick? Walter, Dillingham, possibly Williams are at the top. It's crazy. This is possibly the worst draft since 2013. There's an argument for 10 different players being a top 1-3 pick. I have serious concerns with all of them, including Sarr.

I want a wing with one of the picks, too. If there was an Ace Bailey, Flagg or VJ Edgecombe I would be feeling a lot better. So...which wing from this years draft? Potential (needs 3 years of development) or a higher floor guy like Risacher or Williams who could contribute right away? I'm far from decided. In fact, we would do well to draft players who would provide guaranteed production in a shitty draft (Sheppard, Dillingham, Walter, McCuller, Missi, etc).

Do not have ESPN+ but they moved Edey up to top 15? His footwork has improved but not that much.

No. This draft class is just that much worse than the last.

No NBA team will use Edey the way Purdue does. Yes, he's improved his conditioning and passing. Props for that. But look at his International games away from Purdue. He was useless. The improvements he's made have put him firmly into 2nd round territory as a situational 5, but any team drafting him in the 1st round is taking a massive gamble or doesn't mind changing their gameplan.

But in the Top 15? Are they just wanting clicks?

Tough night for rip city. Something to look forward too… if the lottery pick doesn’t work out this year, that just increases our chance for a better pick next year. You can even rinse and repeat this. Fun times.

BTW don’t take this post too seriously.

I just saw a video on Ace Bailey, holy crap is that guy long and explosive.

I would say the two you named (Zacch and Cody) and Matas will all have a high floor. Yeah, not a single lock at forward this year.
