Is this a hunch or are you basing it off of something you've read or heard? I just don't see how guys who will contribute to playoff wins right now and won't likely be close to as valuable to playoff wins by the time our youngest guys are ready to, could have as much value to us as they would to teams who will be in the playoffs or even be fighting to get into the playoffs this season. So I just think it would be prudent both for us and for Jerami and Malcolm to get them someplace who will give us young talent not ready to contribute to post season wins now and/or draft compensation. It's either that or those guys are sitting the last third of their seasons during their prime because Joe Cronin has shown that if his team isn't going to win in the playoffs, they will full on tank to get the best pick/most value out of the draft.
I'm sorry but "Lots of buyers, few sellers." makes it sound like there could be a feeding frenzy for the guys we are willing to sell (Grant and Brogdon). That's not a statement that makes me think we are less inclined to make a trade but that teams that could make a run aren't interested in giving up win now pieces, which in theory is not what we'd be looking for if we make any trade because we obviously have an eye toward the future and Woj alludes to the play-ins being the thing that is dissuading teams from selling. I don't think our front office plans on or wants to be anywhere near the play-ins.
OG traded. Siakam will be on the move soon, with teams like SAC, ATL, IND all in the race. Is there another forward that might be more sought after than Grant? Lavine isn’t a forward, but at a max contract, I’m not sure he fetches as much as Grant. I’m still hoping Indy falls out of the race for Siakam and gives up Walker for Grant. No 1st needed, give me filler and a 2nd.
What the OG trade?? The Raptors got rid of Precious ?? I dunno what Toronto is thinking. RJ Barrett struggles all the time. Who knows? Maybe RJ will average 30 a night without all those mean Knicks fans badgering his game every day?
McBride got a Thybulle contract? I'm confused now. That kid plays 5 minutes a night. New York paying 3rd stringers 11m a year. Makes absolutely no sense.
I must be blind because I've never understood the fascination with OG. Yes, I see he's a good 3&D wing and that has value. But he's not anywhere close to all-star level. He's not a good rebounder and not a good passer. His career PER is below average; winshare/48 is just average; and has a career BPM of 0.1. Exactly what about him is impressive enough to warrant all the attention? If the Blazers actually did offer the 7th pick for him, the Blazers were fucking up
I read yesterday that Indiana is going hard for Jerami Grant but the offer is Buddy Heild, Obi Toppin and picks...I don't know why we'd do that but that's the latest I've read. Blazers media has said Grant is untouchable for what that's worth.
I think that would depend on the picks and what we could flip Buddy for. Personally I would try and tell them to keep the picks and Obi and give us Jarace Walker. Even if that meant giving them what some playoff team would give up to add Buddy.
Our biggest position of need is PF Ideal PF Role player who rebounds, can spread the floor, sets good screens for pick and pops, decent passer plays good defense, blocks some shots and has some atttitude. Looking at Pf’s there isn’t a ton of options. I know people hate this idea but Zach Collins fits nicely with this roster.
ok...I'm going to say it: this forum seems to get a fascination with certain players quite often that I don't get. For a couple of years it was Ayton; for a while it was Jared Vanderbilt, for quite a while it was OG; lately it's been Kuminga and Jarace Walker I just don't see it. Walker can't get off the bench in Indy and he doesn't have very good players ahead of him at forward. Walker's numbers in college didn't jump off the page either. He was decent at rebounding and average, at best, as a shooter. Are people just going off his pre-draft scouting report and his status as an 8th pick? I think Indiana is a bad trade partner anyway because like Portland they are guard-heavy. I don't have a problem with shopping Grant, but making Walker the prize coming back makes no sense to me
Probably in the minority here but I don’t see either Brogdon or Grant traded. Not convinced anyone wants to pay Jerami and Malcolm is an injury away from being a major major liability. Neither are enough to take a middling team, like the Pacers, over the top.
According to Woj there are a lot of buyers and not many sellers so when we have two of the only guys available that could contribute in a starting lineup to playoff wins, I think there's a very good chance they get moved.
somebody posted a typo... that's what i get for glancing at Blazers Edge. They should rename that place Amateur Hour.
