I actually disagree. If Ant finishes the season top 15 in scoring and proves he can do it for a full season his value could be higher. We need to trade him for a starting level piece. Let's go into the draft and see where we land and make decisions from there. Again, if you wanted Ausar Thompson and additional pieces, I think you could absolutely get them from Detroit which would be super attractive.
and Portland may have won in the playoffs, if Olshey had hired better bigs to back Melo defensively down low.
I don't know if they would. But if they covet Brogdon, maybe they'd settle on the downgrade to Grant, which I don't think is that drastic. Grant is a much better shooter.
I think a potential candidate to trade for Brogdon would be Brooklyn. They’ve been struggling recently and they have an abundance of wings with no PG. They’ve been playing Dinwiddie at PG which he is not one.
Clowney still sounds good to me, but not a lot of good options for "filler". Dinwiddie, if they don't want to resign him this summer, but I assume they want to keep him. Or Dorian Finney-Smith (2 more years after this)
I’m guessing no draft compensation. But that’s fine, I’d love this deal, DFS would fetch a 1st for sure.
he's probably more of a PG than CJ or Ant or Jamal Murray or Maxey. He's averaging 6.5 assists in 32 minutes; 7.4 per36. More than that though is he has a 4.06 assist/turnover ratio which is excellent. He's just not a very good shooter; good at drawing fouls though as for Brogdon, I guess it depends on what the Nets are intending for this season. They are 15-18 and the couple of times I've seen them they look pretty average, and that's being generous.
give the Lakers help. They can't shoot sometimes. Brogdon for Vanderbilt, Hayes, more scrubs, picks, and cash considerations. Perhaps a 3 way deal?
Brooklyn could be a trade candidate for ANY of our guys. I actually think they might be interested in Ayton (whom I've already given up on). I'd take Ben Simmons, especially if they'd throw in Day'Ron Sharpe.
Is Dariq Whitehead any good? If you really want to go young (Which I am not thrilled with) Clowney, Whitehead, and Simmons for Brogdon and Grant. I bet they are finally ready to dump Simmons because of his back. We could flip him if he shows he is healthy.
is there anything about Clowney and Whitehead that makes them better than any future picks Portland might get for Grant & Brogdon? Over 30 games into the season and those two have combined for 4 games & 51 minutes. As far as I can tell (haven't looked hard), Clowney hasn't had any serious injury; he's just racking up DNP-CD's. Whitehead is 19 years old and has already had 2 foot surgeries at this point, I'd rather have picks than either of those guys. But, the Nets seem on a slow train to purgatory, so I'm not seeing them giving up picks for two players like Brogdon and Grant, who won't alter trajectory, much, or move a needle
To be honest I have no idea why they haven't played. Probably because they are just not ready. (Like most 19 year olds) I agree Whitehead is a gamble because of his injury (The same injury just didn't heal right), but Clowney (On paper) is someone who seems to be the type of young forward we could use. A long defender who moves well and has a nice 3-point stroke. Also a decent rebounder. My guess is he will be a pretty good NBA player. Now I know that is not enough for Grant and Brogdan...I was just throwing it out there because I think the Nets would/should consider it. (and because I am bored) And I bet we could get a first and filler for Simmons.
Today I read the Spurs are targeting Brogdan and offering McDermott, Devontae Graham and 26 first round pick. I don't know much about Graham but McBuckets would be helpful given our shooting woes. 2026 first round pick is decent....I'd probably ask for 2 firsts given Brogdan's market. Apparently the Spurs were deep into trade talks with Boston for Brogdan when we traded for him.
Link? I'd rather have Bassey included as salary filler over Graham, but it would all depend upon the protections on the pick.
It'was a news blip on MSN's homepage....I don't cut and paste many links here but if I read something interesting I'll relay it. Often these are SB nation articles. The title of the article was something about pairing Brogdan with Wembanyama. I posted everything the article said here already in short form.
How many backup centers can we keep? Not sure what happens with Williams, but between Badji, Brown, and Reath one of them won't be around next year. Where does Bassey rate with those guys? Didn't he just tear his ACL?
