I think the reason why he wanted Miami is because he would have still been the best player and the lead ball handler.
I don't agree with that I think the reasons he wanted Miami was that he was good friends with Adebayo & Butler; was pretty familiar with Spoelstra; knew there was no state income tax in Florida; and, finally, knowing he was going thru a separation and likely divorce, the idea of warm weather and South Beach was pretty appealing to a new bachelor enduring the pain and disruption of that divorce
I think Dame's attraction to Miami was the coach as well as the tax perks . He left a rookie coach in Chauncey ato a rookie coach in Milwaukee. Not sure that was what he was going for. Spoelstra is a championship coach and Griffin is a guy even Terry Stotts quit on before tipoff. That to me is the dark part of the Bucks trade for Dame....the coaching. Had the Bucks hired Stotts as head coach, Dame would probably be happier and much more in his own zone.
I think there was many reasons why Dame wanted Miami, but to reiterate, I think the MAIN reason was because the offense would have fit him better.
Miami has far higher level off court talent than Milwaukee. Miami beat Milwaukee as a Dame destination in all ways except Dame also had a good friend in Milwaukee (tie) and Milwaukee had far more to offer Portland.
If he's upset because someone else on the team is better than him, he wouldn't have been happy if Portland had managed to build a championship contender, because you don't win a championship with Dame as your #1.
Regular season won't cut it. Playoffs will show how happy this trade was. For him and his legacy, for Greek and for Bucks fans. This trade was always about playoffs, not about 24-9 reg season.
He’s been on the struggle bus lately. I remember many of times with the Blazers he went on funks like that
