So as this team continues down the toilet, the issues are obvious. One, we have a bad GM. Drury sucked last year. This year, he's proving to be inept as well. He knew when Chytil went down again with another concussion that he had to act quickly. Instead, he's done dick. He simply doesn't know how to make good trades. Two, I've said this for at least 2 years. Kreider and Zibanejad have become total shit, even strength scorers that can't make it work with anybody not named Buchnevich. The problem relies with those two dipshits. I give Panarin a ton of credit who I with others torched after last year. He changed his game and he's made it work wonderfully with Trochek and Lafreniere. While Kreider and Zibanejad continue to suck each other off and thus we have no second line scoring. Three, either Igor half-asses the first half of the season or he falls into bad habits unless BA unfucks him. He should be more consistent. Even with the horseshit defense in front of him. Four, this is not a fast hockey club which means they need to play physical in order to beat the better teams. Schneider doesn't hit anybody most games. Same with Miller. Trouba hasn't hit for shit this season. Other than Cuylle, this team physically plays like pussies. I don't think I've seen Kreider throw a big hit in over a year.
There have to be some tough trade decisions that need to be made quickly and I don't think Drury is capable of doing it since he's showing quite clearly he's a moron as a GM. I'd love to give Sykora one full year in the AHL. However, he has 14 points in 29 games and is a +8. Edstrom has done well there also in his role. Our 4th line blows. We need to start building a young 4th line now. Not 2 years from now as our top scorers are not young. Goodrow to me at this point should be moved. There is ZERO reason Drury can't easily go out and get Nico Sturm from the Sharks. He's 28, is a faceoff stud and his offense will improve once he comes here. He's a perfect 4th line center for Sykora and Edstrom. I said at the time giving up Vatrano was stupid. Yet, dipshit did it anyway. Now, his cost will be way up to re-acquire. The Kings have lost 8 in a row. Dubois is bombing there. He's 25. If the Kings retained 30% of his contract, took Chytil back in the deal along with Jones and Goodrow, they might give him up to move on from him. Even if it meant rolling the dice on Chtyil. Let's be honest, Cuylle-Dubois-Othmann has the chance of being a nightmare, physical line which we haven't had in forever. Kakko can move up to line with the two dipshits and leave him there forever until they figure it out. I suspect the Kings would want Kakko, Goodrow and Jones for Dubois with 30% retained. If I did that I would want a second back from the Kings. All types of deals our sad and stupid GM isn't creative enough to do.
Kakko is back today, which is good and adds much needed depth and talent upfront. I expect the Rangers to play well today and get a good solid win. We'll see.
They don't seem to recover well when the other team scores. Lots of goals within a minute or two of giving up one.
Good win to finally break their losing streak but that game was full of mental errors very reminiscent of last year's team.
