Tell us how you became a fan of your number one favorite football team, what got you started and what has kept you with that team ever since?
-I was born in KC.-My entire dads side was born their and lived their until they moved to New Mexico.- I love the Chiefs.-I have been a fan since Shottenheimer and Derrick Thomas.Basically, my dad got be into football. Believe it or not, I actually understood the game of football when I was like 5. I've watched every single Chiefs game since like 1995. No lie. I am THE ultimate Chiefs fan.lol
New York Jets fan, born and raised in new york.My dad and my brother were both heavy Giants fans and I dont know why, but I just found the Jets more entertaining at the time and that sealed my fate. Probably had to do something with the name 'Boomer' being the QB way back in 1994-1995 when I started paying attention to football.
I started following the Redskins because I grew up in Maryland around the time when they were the only franchise in the area (there were no Ravens), and my dad was a HUGE Redskins fan then. I was only 3 when they won the Super Bowl in 1992 so I don't remember much from then, but they have always been my team, and always will be. I bleed burgundy and gold.
I remember watching Ray Lew play for the Hurricanes when I was young and just loved the way he played. I told myself I would be a fan of whoever drafted Ray Lewis. The Ravens drafted Ray Lewis and I became a Ravens fan.
When I moved to the DC area in Virginia, I didn't even know what football was. It wasn't until 2003 when I started to watch college and a few Redskins games. Trung Candidate, Stephen Davis, those days... I liked the game of football because it was a lot different than basketball and soccer. I liked how it was so pyhsical. So I started watching some games, mostly Redskins. 2 years ago when we got Portis and Gibbs I got really excited and watched almost every game. I actually watched the firts round of the draft. I think that's when we got Sean Taylor, and not Kellen Winslow. that pissed me off. But we got Chris Cooley with like the 100th pick (look at him now). Kind of disapointing season, especially Brunell's first year. He was injured the whole year, that's why he wasn't good. We would've made the playoffs with Ramsey though. We went 6-10. I didn't give up on them, knowing how bad Joe Gibbs's first season was in the early 80's and then he turned the team around. Last year I was really excited about the Redskins. I thought not drafting Aaron Rodgers or Mike Williams was really dumb. I knew Carlos Rogers was the best CB, but I wasn't confident in David Patten and Santana Moss at 2nd string. And after seeing how bad Ramsey did in preseason, I almost cried. I wanted to find a new team, but again, I remembered what Joe Gibbs did to the Skins. back in the days. (Sounds really fairweathered, I admit that.) But that Gibbs thing got me pumped and I was a huge fan ever since then. Today, now that us Skins fans are expecting a great year, I love the Redskins so much.
I was always a casual fan of football, even when the Oilers moved to Memphis in 97 & Nashville (at Vandy's field) in 98. Coincidentally, in 1999, my junior year of high school, my friends convinced me to play for the HS team and I fell in love with the sport the first time we had live contact drills. I ended up starting and became a football fanatic and my fanaticism increases daily.
Well let's see. I was born and raised in NJ and still live here. I don't know why, but when I was around the age of 4 I found the game of football appealing. At first I didn't understand rules and didn't know I had only been watching college games. That's how I became a Michigan fan, they were the first team I saw. When I figured out what professional football was I saw some of the best on TV. The first game I ever watched was in maybe 1995 which was KC vs. Detroit. Barry Sanders, my favorite player of all time, was crapping on KC which is why I liked him. Then from there on out I saw a Vikings game which contained a cup of Robert Smith and some Cris Carter. They are the filling of my top 3 favorites of all time. Since I loved to see them play I grew up a Viking fan and decided recently Ziggy Wilf is an idiot. All the things he has done this offseason has thrown me in the other direction where I've become a Skins fan. I played football when I was a tiny bit younger and I loved to hit. When Sean Taylor came into the NFL I saw the boy could hit, so of course I liked his style. Clinton Portis also intrigued me, especially when he carried his first NFL football and scored a touchdown on his very first play. Santana Moss is also my favorite player in the present day.Oh, I forgot to add I grew up with my stepfather who is a Jets fan. That's another reason I hate the G-men.
grew and raised in NYC....was a small giants fan, but started watching the jets because green is cooler than blue (i was like, 6) and now am a diehard Vilma and CMartin fan
Since I've just started to understand football when the Patriots beat the Eagles in the SB, I started out as a Panthers fan recently and I've liked them since they're good contenders. IMO, the Patriots are team demoralizers when it comes to winning SBs. For example, they beat the Panthers in that one SB (37, I think), the Panthers failed to make the playoffs the following season. Then they beat the Eagles, and they also failed to make the playoffs this last season. It's a big curse.
Born and raised in Chicago. Got into football in 1998, b/c of the NBA lockout, nothing was on TV but football.
well lets see I was born in Pittsburgh 2 weeks after the steelers won there 2nd super bowl championship. I grew up going to the games with my Dad. I have gone to around 300 games total as to date. So I guess you can say I am as diehard as they come when it comes to football and my steelers...
I've been to a preseason game... and training camp... Yeah... my dad likes basketball more so we go to A LOT of Wizards games.
