Cole Anthony doesn't have nearly as many shots in his bag as Ant and is a sub par three point shooter while Ant is a bonafide sharp shooter. Ant right now is the focus of the opposing team's defense when he's on the floor and Cole Anthony has the luxury of getting lost on that end a lot and gets to have a bunch of easy looks Ant would never get on our team right now.

So the answer is unequivocally, no. No Cole Anthony is not anywhere close to the impact player on offense that Ant is or that the Magic need right now and in the future.

Yeah, I think we could get a high 3rd round pick for him.

Ice might like to regroup with Brogdan as a vet to compliment a young group.

Brogdan, Murray & 2nd round pick for:
Oladipo salary dump, Amen & Cam

It was fun to win tonight but now that the elation has worn off I'm left looking at our next game against the Spurs and the very high likelihood that we will have won 4 of our last 6 games.

I just don't know what the fuck we're doing here. If I were Joe I would trade every guy that was responsible for that win: Jerami, Malcolm, Ant and Deandre... I would trade Tisse just for good measure and I wouldn't wait until the deadline. We want a better chance at a higher pick, we want experience for our young guys that we are most likely to have a chance at contending with and we should not want wins.

We're still solidly in the 5th lottery slot, 3 full games behind Toronto. Even this run of competence is not really affecting our draft position. Sure, if we were presently 0-for-January we'd be 1 spot better, but do you really think that would be better for the young guys we're developing? I firmly believe that a team that is consistently competing-- and even <gasp> occasional winning a few games--is a much better environment to develop young guys than a team that looks hopeless.

We'll lose plenty of games. I doubt we pass Toronto. Blazers would basically have to pay .500 ball the rest of the season to finish with a better win percentage than what the Raptors currently have.

I understand what you're saying, but I really think you're making mountains out of molehills. Let yourself enjoy the occasional win.

An idea that's been rattling around in my head: get Zach Collins back from the Spurs in exchange for Brogdon.

Zach is a really solid all-around PF/C. But he'd add length/defense to our front court, and play the role we hoped RW3 would play.

He and Jabari could hold down the PF position, and solidify Grant as a SF.

It's not about last night or tomorrow for me. I think this team is good enough to pass the Raptors and probably the Nets who we just beat and who are both 2-8 in their last 10 while we're 4-6 and about to be 5-5. I love watching the Blazers win, I just want to watch them win in the playoffs. Keeping Jerami and Malcolm if they have value on the trade market to get us picks and/or prospects would be a huge red flag for me.

If we have the fifth worst record in the league at the end of the season cool... I'd rather duck under the Hornets but whatever. If we have the 7th worst record and still have Jerami or Malcolm, I'm going to be pissed. If we end up keeping Jerami or Malcolm and shut them down I'm also going to be pissed because those guys' value is not ascending, it is in decline. They will be worth less on draft day after sitting the last third of the season than they are worth right now.

All I'm asking for is a sense of direction for our team. If we're trying to win now we've set ourselves up for failure and if we're trying to set ourselves up to win down the road then winning any games right now at a 2 to 1 clip is counter productive. I just think a 5-5 stretch (that's where we'll probably be tomorrow night) in the middle of a rebuilding season where the only reason we're winning those games are vets, doesn't seem to make a lot of sense to me when thinking about long term viability of our rebuild.

Wow. That's crazy. Matisse would propel them to a ring. He's just what they need.

I guess championships aren't that important to him, or Doc Rivers is a bigger nightmare than anyone imagined.

Outside of Beauchamp though, they would have nothing to offer. Only 2 2nds over the next several years, so no more draft assets. Has Milwaukie made Beauchamp available?

If we trade Brogdon, I would prefer we keep Thybulle. He is just entering his prime....on a good contract

These guys list targets for all teams. Believe Dallas and Kings might target Grant, Bulls, Lakers and Knicks Brogdon. Milwaukee Thybulle (unlikely) and Orlando Simons and Brogdon. I still think ORL is the best idea: Simons and Brogdon for a package centered around Carter, lottery pick Jett Howard and draft picks. I think they are tired of losing and now have a first rate defense, just need some scoring from their guards. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10106204-every-nba-teams-top-3-trade-deadline-targets

I know this is a lot for Ant but I wouldn't trade Ant unless it was a helluva package coming back for him. It isn't four picks though because the second 2026 pick is just a swap opportunity.
    upload_2024-1-25_14-34-30.png
Instead of protecting the pick maybe it could be the second most favorable first round pick in 2029 between ours, the Bucks and the Celtics.

We would still be above the salary floor despite the cuts and if the Nets didn't want to go into the tax they could send Royce O'Neil to us we would buy him out and buy out Fournier.

Rotation: Scoot, Shaedon, Walker, Smith Jr., Ibou, Black, Toumani, Jabari, Duop and Kris.

I think we would trade Robinson in the off season and trade up if we have to, to get Sarr. Maybe we'd overpay on a free agent like THT.

So anger that we're winning/hanging on to our win now guys, but also expecting a premium price for all of them, so undoubtedly will get upset when that premium isn't met as well. yeesh.
