I love those two times of year two. We've got about 50 hours left, I hope that they prove you wrong and I'm betting you are too.

I don't think they are going to do anything.

Y'all act like the trade machine or fantasy basketball is real life. The trader bob days are impossible in this era.

Well, they have played the "let's suck" game for the past 2 years, and this year it's unintentional. They don't really have a prospect to replace Grant with. I get the logic of trading Grant, but also the idea that you can't kick the can down the road forever.

I stand by what I’ve been saying for the last couple of weeks. Getting draft choices is a lot harder now because all of the stupid GM’s have been fleeced by the smart GM’s. No way does Danny Ainge get the amount of first round draft choices he has in this environment. There are a few teams that have already gotten most of them. Cronin was lucky to get what he got for Dame from Milwaukee and that only happened because Giannis threatened not to resign and the Milwaukee GM panicked, and he had to go all the way to 2028 because everything up to that year has been taken.
When I read that New Jersey was offered up to five first round draft choices for Mikal Bridges, I am blown away they don’t say yes, unless they’re all in this years draft. I mean he’s a good player, but he’s not that good they’re crazy for not excepting that offer.
I’m hoping Cronin can do a deal, I’m sure he’s trying, but if he’s not being offered anything decent, you have to walk away. This is a nice group of players we have. I would love 2025, 2026, first round draft choices, along with pick swaps, but in this environment, those are hard to come by now because they’re already in the hands of certain teams.

A lot of his success had to do with finding the right opportunities. Strickland for Wallace, trading for Rider, Wells etc...we didn't give up much to build that core.

After reading this piece by Ben Golliver, I don't have much hope that we make a trade or if we do. that we get much of a return. He pretty much goes down the list of every team and they all just want to nibble around the edges. I don't think anyone will give value for Grant so he will stay. We will probably have to give up Brogdon for a late first and filler. They might decide just to keep him.

He deliberately went for distressed assets. Then managed them.

You could still do that today (to a lesser extent due to matching salary and the salary cap), but you'd have to be very careful with social media.

So after reading Ben you came to that conclusion? But not when some of us have been saying the same thing?

What I don't get about trading Brogdon now is wouldn't a 2025 or later draft pick be worth less now than in July?

In any event, after the trade deadline and when Sharpe comes back, I don't want Brogdon on the court for more than 10-15 minutes a night.

I'm not sure it's about straddling. I think it's more that under this ownership they're not making any moves that mortgage the future. We're going to grow slowly, organically and keep assets until she sells. That's what makes the team really valuable. If someone buys a new Lego set, you want to build it yourself. A professional sports franchise is a lot like a new Lego set for the wealthy.

    Gamble on malcontents?

Should we trade for Miles Bridges? How about Kevin Porter Jr?

Although my personal opinion is that especially Minnesotat needs to do more than nibble and might come up with a good offer. All their guys are healthy, they shouldn't pass up an opportunity to improve their team substantially right now.

I started thinking that if MN does't want to give up Naz Reid, then how about Leonard Miller and a draft pick? Problem then is getting salaries to match. Even if they include Slo-mo, it would take 4 players. Maybe a third team?

This is basically telling me the offers suck. None of those guys are on expirings so the teams have time to wait until the off-season.

If there's one thing I've seen over the past few years it's that painting yourself into a corner where you feel like you have to trade someone is a recipe for getting pennies on the dollar.

    OG Anunoby
    Pascal Siakam
    Norman Powell
    Robert Covington
