Senate GOP voted down the border bill. Guess they don't actually care about fixing anything, they just want to complain that Biden isn't fixing the border.

It’s party over country for the senate and house republicans. What a shameful group of people to be representing our country.

that is one take on it. a border bill where on 20B of the 120B went to the border. it also still allowed an open border. Biden if he cared about America could close the border today.
    He wont of course

Nobody cares. If they did they would just fix the immigration process and everyone legit would enter legally. Only criminals would try to do it illegally, so they'd be incredibly easy to spot with drones and pick up.

Under Bush II a bipartisan immigration reform was negotiated. It has votes to pass and Bush said he would sign. Last minute Republicans backed out.

No one can "close the border", not even North Korea.

Moscow Mitch and the Weaker of the House made it clear. In so many words. They did not kill the bill because they wanted a better one. They killed the bill because their master Trump, who BTW had four years to fix the border, said to. Because government working to solve problems would boost Biden. And because Trump's master Putin doesn't want the US to aid Ukraine.

I honestly don't understand people who think it can be done.

    No way.

you are right you cant "close" the border, but drastically reducing the shit show that is occurring would be great. Crossings were way down during the previous adminastration, this is not debatable.

Let us launder more money through Ukraine or else we will leave the border wide open, allow more human traffickers in and allow fentanyl to kill 100,000 more people this year.

    Sounds reasonable.

Immigration isn’t inherently a bad thing, nobody said that. When done in moderation and vetting of course it can be good. Millions of people streaming in unaccounted for is not a good thing. A wide open border between two countries, one where hundreds of thousands of people are dying from overdoses and the other one the source, is not a good thing.
Also, Paul Krugman has made nearly zero accurate predictions in his career. He is no longer an authority on economics and for good reason. He’s lobbied for every policy that has left us in the current failed economic state we’re in.

    Two items of evidence.
First, that average crossings since 2021 exceed 2017 to 2020.
Second, that increase is result of Biden border policies and not lessening of Covid restrictions and record low unemployment under President Biden.

Sean Hannity was interviewing Curtis Sliwa, founder of Guardian Angels, self appointed vigilantes who have targeted immigrants, when a scuffle broke out. Several Guardians tackled a man whom Sliwa said was a migrant and shoplifter. Hannity went on rant about migrant criminals taking over cities. Sliwa boasted about how hard he had been hit.
The man in question is a US citizen and according to police was not suspected of shoplifting.
Sliwa said he assumed the man was an illegal immigrant because he was speaking Spanish.

So fix the immigration system to make it easier than paying a coyote to rape your wife and kids in the desert.

It's not exactly a high bar...

Kinda looks like migrant encounters at the Mexican border increased throughout Trump's term except during COVID-19 lockdown... And at about the same rate as during Biden's first year at least...

And before 2020 they didn't include expulsions. So Biden's term looks more inflated in comparison.
