Grab a solid trio of non-top names like the above and rotate them as I see fit.Of course since I win or am in the final 4 teams every year, I never draft at the front of the first round anyhow. So my trio of solid backs has always served me well over the people with Tomlinson and someone like Foster.Grab a RB/WR with the first pickGrade a RB/WR with the second pick (never two RB's in a row, but sometimes two WR's... it worked this past year with Chad Johnson and Torry Holt)Grab a solid RB with the third pickGrab a RB/WR with the fourth pick (only RB if I don't already have two)Grab a WR with the fifth pickUsually serves me pretty well... actually always serves me well, I'd never want to draft one of the top picks. The guys with LT and Alexander every year RARELY make the playoffs.

In fantasy, you HAVE to go runningback first. It's an unwritten rule. Usually two RBs in a row is the best bet, but it depends on whats there

[IMG] [IMG] If Im picking around 6-12 in my fantasy draft, I would be much better off drafting someone like Peyton Manning or a top tiered reciever, and then addressing my RB position in the mid rounds with a sleeper like Vilma mentioned. Ronnie Brown and Tatum Bell are 2 that especially perk my interest, 2 guys who split carries last year but will be recieving the majority of their carries themselves this year due to the absense of the other back (Ricky Williams, Mike Anderson). Jamal Lewis to me is a stay away at all costs player, he had an off year last year and they brought in Mike Anderson who will likely split carries with him, no matter what Baltimore says IMO. Another person who scares me is Thomas Jones due to likely competition from Cedric Benson, although they included that in their rankings I see. Julius Jones also killed me last year due to splitting carries with Marion Barber. I would also add the Reggie Bush/ Deuce McAlister duo to my avoid list.

Yeah i agree that it's smart to take a RB but if Manning is on the market i think you should go with him because he always put up good numbers. I'm not gonna make the same mistake again because I took Daunte Culpepper in the first round because of his monster year last season when Manning won MVP then his fool ass got injuried! I'm definately not mak ing the same mistake again

Hell, you can usually find Jake Plummer in round 8, and he's a solid play at QB.

Carson Palmer & Tom Brady in round 6? Yeah right, that didn't happen to me. Most of those good players were gone

They are more of Round 3-4 players in any fantasy league I've been in. While you can find a QB like Delhomme, Roethlisberger, ect in Rounds 6-8, you're also losing 1,000 yds and 10 TDs from the kind of production you can get from Peyton Manning. Seriously, when a bad year for him is 3,700 yds and 26-28 Touchdowns and a good year is 4500 yds and 30+ TD's you know your getting a damn good QB.

That list is alright, but Ronnie Brown is too high, and Tiki Barber should be likr 5 or 6.I seriously think Rock Cartwright should be up there [IMG]

Once you get past LT, Alexander, Larry Johnson, Barber, and Portis..The questionmarks start to arise. -Will Edge fix an Arizona running game that's been broken for years?-Is Rudi Johnson going to get touches with all of the other weapons in that offense?-Will Ronnie Brown be able to run behind a below average line by himself?-Can LaMont Jordan put up consistant numbers? And so on..There are 30 starting runningbacks in the NFL. 10 team league, 2 RBs..That's 20. And I'm sure teams are going to want a backup RB, so make that 30. Thirty starters, thirty RBs taken. You want to grab them FAST.There are 60 starting WRs..Arguably 90, because slot receivers can make for good WR3's in fantasy. 10 team league, 3 WRs..That's 30 spots. You want a fourth, fifth WR? Make that 50, still less than the starters in the league.RBs are MUCH more valuable in fantasy football than WRs are. You can start your draft off with Larry Johnson and Cadillac, then grab guys like Boldin, Fitzgerald, Ward, Darrell Jackson, Burleson, Reggie Brown, Santana Moss, etc.

There are 6 runningbacks IMO that should be the top 6 picks. LaDainian Tomlinson, Shaun Alexander, Larry Johnson, Tiki Barber, Edgerrin James and Clinton Portis. After then the next 10-15 runningbacks really arent significantly better then each other. Is Rudi Johnson really significantly better then Reuben Droughns, Willis McGahee, ect when it comes to a fantasy back? I dont really think so. If im stuck in a situation where I have the choice between Rudi Johnson and Peyton Manning im going to take Peyton Manning because I know I can grab 2 backs in the next 2-3 rounds who will have similar production to Rudi Johnson (Such as Willis McGahee and Dominick Davis, and then I'll be sure to pick up a very solid 3rd runningback in case one of them does not produce).

I had Alexander (round 1), Portis (round 2), and Stephen Davis (FA pick up) last season.Got Chad Johnson, Hines Ward as my 2 star WRs. Busted with Lelie. Mason and Jerry Porter had to be my step-ins.Got Carson Palmer Round 11. Took Roethlisberger round 7 but ended up cutting him.I did score with Neil Rackers.I ended up going 13-1 only to lose in the playoffs in the 1st round...http://archive.fantasysports.yahoo.com/nfl/2005/81324/4

But you did have a very good team where you hit a few breakout years with Carson Palmer, Shaun Alexander (Yeah, he was good beforehand, but not 27 Rushing TD's good.), Nice drafting.

Pretty good 4th runningback based on potential. I think if you pick Tatum Bell, then also getting Ron Dayne is a must though.

You can start your draft off with Larry Johnson and Cadillac, then grab guys like Boldin, Fitzgerald, Ward, Darrell Jackson, Burleson, Reggie Brown, Santana Moss, etc.</div>I'll do a league with you guys this year too if you want. And through smart drafting I had...QB Carson PalmerWR Torry HoltWR Chad JohnsonWR Eddie KennisonRB Edgerrin JamesRB Lamont JordanTE Todd HeapBest Bench RB: Ronnie BrownBest Bench WR: Koren Robinson (FA pickup)K: Jay Feeley (FA Pickup)D: ChicagoHere is how it went (6th overall pick): 1.
