I remember watching Billy Jack Haynes as a kid. Had no idea he lived in SE Portland. But apparently he went loco on his 85 year old wife.

    Who woulda thunk it?

FWIW Hayne's wife had dementia and the circumstances may not be as simple as DV. I mean, I hope not.

BJH was little before my time but trained here at the Dungeon and wrestled for Stampede before he went to the PNW and Florida, IIRC. Feared wrestler. Once pummelled and knocked out Mike Sharpe (6'4"/280lbs) in the locker room after he felt like Sharpe was too stiff in a match (or series).

Billy Jack Haynes used to own a Golds Gym in Oregon City.

I hope it's some kind of misunderstanding. Though, that seems unlikely.

Seeing a relative suffer through dementia or Alzheimers is something I wouldn't wish on anyone. Not saying that he put her out of her misery (or that they had an agreement, etc), but I knew of an elderly family friend who saw her sister suffer from a brain injury (she was in her 70's at the time and this was in the early 90's). She and her sister were very close, and she was the only sibling she had, and thus was responsible for her care. Eventually, after seeing her sister in a constant state of confusion, fear, anxiety and sadness (when she was conscious), she put her in a care facility. When she would visit her sister, her sister would remember her, but not as she was then. So every time she'd visit, she'd be asked "how is Terry?" and "why doesn't Terry ever visit me?" etc.

Every day was a grim reminder that her vibrant sister was dying (tho she was in good physical health otherwise). The two had many discussions about how they wanted to handle death (their own father had dementia and died from it). She knew her sister wouldn't want to be alive anymore if this was the way she was "living". So one day while visiting her at the facility where she was now staying at, she had planned on shooting her sister and then knowing what she'd face, she would end her own life too.

But she couldn't bring herself to kill her sister. She ended up killing herself outside in her car. Her sister never was told that her sister had shot herself. The workers at the facility would tell her that her sister was busy, or that she had just visited her yesterday. Because of her short term memory issues, she would believe them, but every day she would inquire again about her sister.

I'm defending what Terry did (or BJH if that's what he did). Seeing your loved ones suffer makes people do strange things, especially if you feel no one is listening to you or there's nothing you can do to help them.

Billy Hayes reportedly told police it was a mercy killing.

However, there is some strangeness to their relationship. The dead wife he married in 2022, and she was the mother of one of his friends. She was 15-years his senior and neighbours have said she had dementia. Had her state changed radically in the last two years?

Likely that he confesses in exchange for a charge lesser than murder, and spends significant time in prison.

The friend who’s mom he married died a few years back and was a massive bodybuilder that frequented Loprinzi’s gym on SE Foster Rd
