Hospitals and Pharmacies Reeling After Change Healthcare Cyberattack It depends on what pharmacy you're using, as there not all ran through the same processor. Safeway has been down since Wednesday, Costco is mostly only processing through faxes, Walmart seems to not have any issues expect for some billing problems. I'm surprised this hasn't been in the headlines more, since it seems to be a nation state attack. Probably N. Korea or Russia. If you have Tricare, UnitedHealth, or Samaritan, buckle up.
Really surprised this didn't effect anyone. Looks like those responsible walked away with some cash. Hackers Behind the Change Healthcare Ransomware Attack Just Received a $22 Million Payment
My SIL was complaining about significant delays at Costco, but that's the only thing I've heard about this at all. Of course, I have United Health insurance, so I'm probably going to have to get myself a new identity soon.
I think Costco was only processing scripts via fax for about a week. Safeway was at a complete standstill.. Hopefully since they paid at least some portion of the ransom then all the data won't show up on the dark web, but who knows. Either way, as the article states, paying that ransom set a dangerous precedent. Cyberattacks on healthcare providers has generally been taboo, even for these immoral assholes. Hack FB and Instagram as much as you want but shit like this is like my worst nightmare.
