I bet if you looked at the Top 10 most respected NBA mock drafts, you’ll get 10 different Top 5 picks. This year is LITERALLY a crap shoot!
I'm all for the next Dominic DiVincenzo climbing the draft charts along with any other guards. Those pebbles will push some of the forwards we want to our picks.
I think any #1 in this draft at this time can have the same thing said about him, just that kind of draft IMO
POR just has to take what they think is the BPA and hope for the best. Drafting for position in this sort of a draft may not be a great idea. They still have just young one real shooter: Simons.
shoot shoot shoot. Draft shooters, scorers, and Billups can teach them how to play defense. Does this strategy work? No, but that's how the Pistons, errr, i mean the Thunder landed good rookies.
Yeah because Lord knows, we can’t look to speed this rebuilding project up. Stay the course & let the cake bake. We have to do it exactly like OKC did, because that will work for every single team in the league!
I would shed myself of Ant and Grant and give Scoot and Shae the runway while adding more picks for when we're able to make some noise. It's hard to plan to be OKC, but the plan was still sound. It will always require some level of luck.
Tell me you don't know anything about the draft without telling me you don't know anything about the draft. There are plenty of difference makers. Sarr and Williams for starters.
Assumed difference makers. We’ve all seen “difference makers” end up as role players, so injury plagued they couldn’t make a difference or just be busts. There is no clear-cut “Wemby” and a number of Scoots-those we hope become difference makers eventually if not immediately.
Yeah, we're all making assumptions. A bunch of people say this draft sucks based on a handful of talking heads but they don't know anything about the prospects. I didn't say there were a bunch of superstars. I said there were a bunch of difference makers who can help us get considerably better. I stand by that.
I think you're mistaking the healthy amount of skepticism about the risk profile of the guys at the top as 100% condemnations of them. here's a chart you might find handy:
The draft is our only who to salvation. Nobody is coming over via free agent. Likely no return of a star in any trade. I hope they get super aggressive and move up to get the guys the project best. Getting guys on 4 year rookie scale will help the rebuild.
I would argue next year's draft is also very important, not just this one—we have another exciting evaluation year ahead of us. As of March, I'd be surprised if they used both first round picks. I could see them trading the GSW into the future.
I wouldn't be opposed to using both firsts to move up to grab Sarr. Other than that, doubt teams are going to give us next year's pick in a deeper draft for this year's. They should just use the GS pick along with the seconds to move up to get their guy. Might be able to get Holland or Buzelis or Salaun towards the end of the lotto.
