Yes, he has definitely lost multiple elections. I thought I'd heard he is able to retain power BECAUSE of the constant state of war or something. So he has incentive to keep it going...

I could be getting that wrong, though, but I thought it was something like that.

Im sorry but what leverage does Biden have over Netanyahu? This is 2024 not 1999, the Israelis are going to do whatever the hell they want to extract revenge over Palestine. I don’t support it, but if you recall what happened back in the US after 9/11 and magnify the deaths about 3 fold and make them even more horrific such as decapitating babies and lightning kids on fire… and yeah see how Americans would react. We would have wanted to nuke Afghanistan.

If you were alive after 9/11 the restraint the bush administration had was in retrospect pretty fucking amazing. These days the extremism and extremist media only pour fuel on the fire of an already angry and vulnerable feeling people. It’s hardly a surprise to anyone with any context and understanding why Israel is reacting the way they are. No American president is going to have much leverage in stopping what is happening.

Hamas is to blame for essentially giving Israel cover to enact a genocide in Palestine. But frankly, and no one on the left seems to want to talk about this, this is exactly what Hamas wants. It’s by design, and it’s getting them exactly what they want, while they are all safe in Jordan and other countries while Palestine is getting liquidated. Unfortunately Israel waked into the trap, and the Palestinian and Israeli people are the ones living with the consequences.

That is not going to stop Israel from what they are doing which is my point. Yes, I agree with you, we shouldn't be supporting them, 100% agree. But what RoadRatt is harping on is that we have some magical wand that will stop them from what they are doing in Gaza. It won't.

I disagree. They have overstepped with settlements in the past. Both Bush and Obama have threatened them with pulling funds and they got back in line. They wouldn't survive 10 minutes without the U.S. money and protection.

I was watching a video the other day where a U.S. senator said that 83% of the weaponry used in Israel is from America.

As their biggest supplier of weapons and military technology... You can't legitimately tell me America doesn't have any leverage over Israel. The leg you are standing on, just isn't there.

Edit: Besides. If the Superpower can't get their subordinate country to listen. That makes Biden a weak president for not being able to stop Netanyahu.

There’s a huge difference between what happened then and what’s happening now. They had a terrorist attack that was, relative to their population, three 9/11s. Plus the politics in Israel is far different than it was back then.

Does Biden have more influence over them than he has wielded so far? Ehhh possibly, I am honestly not at all convinced of that based on the Israeli reporting I have read, heard, or seen.

But you also have to keep in mind a large minority of Democrats support Israel so Biden has to thread a very difficult needle. I am not arguing morality or ethics here, I think that’s fairly clear. I am arguing the real politics of the situation.

Your argument is as usual, just black and white and doesn’t try to contextualize the situation. You’re ignoring the real politics of the situation. Could Biden reign in Israel more? Maybe. Personally I do not think he really can. Israel is hellbent on destroying Hamas and extracting revenge. Regardless of how you feel morally, the reality is that Israel is a lot different now than it was 10 years ago, or hell even October 6th 2023.

I really think you’re either over estimating our influence, and or under estimating their own self determination. Admittedly I am not there, but from what I have read and heard with the reporting the mood in Israel is still very supportive of the actions in Gaza. Hell even China can’t control N. Korea and they’re neighbors and N. Korea relies on China for almost 100% of their trade.

Plus put yourself in Biden’s shoes, if you want to get re-elected you have some hard choices because almost 50% of Dems still support Israel. It may now be the minority of the party, but they are still a very large minority, and are the far more reliable voters than the millennial and Gen Z voters who are the most pissed off about Gaza.

It’s tough choice on how to proceed politically really. A lot harder for a Dem than a Republican that’s for sure, because a Republican is going to support Israel in full scale ethnic cleaning, especially Trump.

You’re too hard to have a conversation with man. EVERYTHING is Trump with you. Everything. It’s tiring. You literally call half the country maggots every chance you get. It’s unhinged, over the top intolerance and your excuse for it is that the “other side” is, wait for it….intolerant. I guess it’s ok to disparage the shit out of regular ass people and dehumanize them likening them to maggots as long as you pretend they are Nazis or something.

First of all, I call them MAGAts. Interestingly, you're the one who translates that to "maggots". And yes, EVERYTHING IS Trump with me, because he has caused so much hate, dysfunction, nihilism and other damage to this country. He has placed himself above this country and you're just fine with it. Why you choose to ignore that danger is on you and those of your ilk. And read back through almost 6K posts by me and you will not find even one by me calling ANYONE a Nazi. But I can go back through your posts and find plenty that falsely (and "intolerantly" and "over the top"...and "unhinged") utterly bash Biden as senile, brain dead, cognitively impaired, etc, etc, etc. despite the fact he has accomplished actual positive actions in the face of Republican intransigence. So I have TDS and own it. You clearly have Biden Derangement Syndrome (BDS) but apparently you find that justified. The post of mine you cited made NO mention of Trump whatsoever BTW, so it's interesting that YOU brought him up. And apparently me asking you to try and back up your vague assertions that the majority of Americans oppose funding to Ukraine makes me "too hard to have a conversation with"? Why is it that every time a conservative is called on his bullshit, they either deny or deflect. It's like you all know the shit you guys push is entirely indefensible so you fight back with "what about" or "I know you are but what am I?" Talk about "tiring"..........I guess my next question should be "why do you hate our country?"

Wait, the conservative guy is saying that having conversations with someone who is focused on name calling and intolerance is exhausting? Anyone else smell that strong strong irony? Who did you vote for in 2016 and 2020?

I'm curious. I hear the right hating on Biden with their disparaging remarks. But, what specific policy that Biden has acted upon is worse than anything Trump has done?

I still can't think of a specific thing they've pointed out other than he's old and senile.

But both of our choices are too fucking old.

    What else?

He's not orange enough, and doesn't use enough toner. He looks far too much like a normal person rather than a weird orangutan kinda thing.

Yes, both of our choices are too old. But, Biden is a far better choice than Trump. I myself, have been critical of Biden's age. He was not my first choice back in 2020. But, I'll take Biden over Trump any day. I'll take what we have right now over what we had from 2016-2020. None of Biden's policies are worse than Trump's.

Furthermore, I will take the party that stands with the LBTGQ community, that stands with women, that stands with keeping rights rather than removing them. Is Biden and the democratic party perfect, hell no. They also pander to corporations, though not quite as much. I know going in all promises won't be kept, but I also know I'm not getting chaos. I'm not getting a party that sent it's base to attack the Capitol. I'm not getting a party that puts a man over the country. I'm not getting a candidate who's base includes neo nazis (yes, some of them, not all of them are). Im not getting a candidate who fills his cabinet with family members and is corrupt as shit, while platforming the opposite. I'm not getting a candidate who has been indicted for treason and who wants to use the station of office for his own personal gain, to order his trials stopped, and to take revenge on those he considers his enemies. I don't understand how anyone with a moral compass votes for that guy.

This is just a disingenuous cop out, we all know what you mean.
He seems to cause you and those similarly affected to exhibit these shitty traits, yes. I dont quite see the level of deranged intolerance from even the dumbest of right wingers.
He is. That’s why i say that.
    first step.
i dont relay every single problem back to Biden, just the obvious ones (cognitive decline, corruption).
You immediately brought it back to your MAGAT tirades and i realized “oh yeah, this person is incapable of thinking outside of that paradigm” and deemed the conversation a lost cause.
