Good thing we traded for a defensemen that will never see the ice instead of a top 4 dman. Gonna be a quick playoffs again.
We were outplayed against Carolina but Igor bailed the team out. This team is winning a round if they are lucky and then getting bounced. Defensively they are woefully inadequate. Faceoffs we continue to struggle. Two MAJOR areas we struggled last few weeks yet we did nada to improve. But thankfully we got a 3rd C who also can’t win faceoffs and a dman that will never play. Clutch moves by the brainless GM
Tough game tonight, in control until Brod gave them life. Onto to a back-to-back this weekend on national TV, in Pitt and home against the Isles. I will say this about TB, they are not deep anymore, but they still have some very high-end talent. Reasonable chance they end up as the top WC and play the winner of the Met division, which is why I still say if the Canes do pass the Rangers, it is not the worst thing in the world. I rather play one of the Isles, Flyers, or Caps than TB in round 1 if given the choice.
Honestly, of the final 16 games only four I’d consider tough. Jets, Bruins, Panthers and Avalanche. I’m not saying 12-0 in the others but they should be able to finish strong.
do you ever say anything positive about the team? I criticize them all the time but you take it to another level, bro.
Yeah, that is what I wrote above. The matchup actually could be better if we finish in 2nd playing the Isles or Caps or Flyers instead of TB potentially. With that said, I do think the Rangers will hold on and win the division. They have a reasonable schedule, with 10 of 16 games at home. I felt the team that won in regulation the other night was going to win the division, and I'll stick with that.
The Brod play hurt and I didn't like Dumba getting in Igor's face. but statistically the last two games were pretty even, to suggest the Rangers were vastly outplayed is ridiculous. I would have liked to see McDavid and Makar added too but there were no major names moved at the deadline period, perhaps a suggestion as to what non-starting pieces Drury could have cobbled together into a top 4 dman pick, even though none were traded would be helpful. The last two games were played without Rempe as well and the Rangers sorely missed his physicality.
Playing Tampa in the playoffs will be a lot different. Last time we beat them 5-1. We just got done with 4 games in 6 days and they were off for 5 days. Also, no physicality which won’t be the case with Trouba and Rempe back. Tampa has one line and we will beat the shit out of it in the playoffs. And yes, our defense continues to suck. Fox continues to get skated around and just not strong enough to take anyone off the picks. Lift some weights already Fox, it’s embarrassing. Miller continues to suck on defense and adds one mindless pass after another. Brodshitski does not belong on this team and Edstrom should be up here until rempe gets back
I think the Rangers would beat TB in the playoffs, as they are very top heavy and lack depth to win a long 7 game series against us IMO, but I still rather play the 3rd place Met team over TB if given the choice. Either way though I don't think it is a huge deal as I expect the Rangers will make it past round 1. Then we'll see how it goes from there starting with most likely the Canes in round 2.
Let's face it. They were kissing their own asses after the first period, Mika got hit in the face, left and the game was different after that. When they went up 3-2 I thought they had it but Tampa played desperate and the Rangers didn't because they aren't.
