how did it take dunk central 52 hours to aggregate this aytondote?

this is deandre ayton we're talking about here. he's supposedly lazy, overpaid and was the former #1 pick over a couple of generational players. this should have been aggregated moments after fentress hit publish.

    do better, dunk central.

Getting torched in the comments. How can a guy making that much not have a mattress. How do the Blazers as an organization not have people in place to take care of these issues?

I’m sure they could’ve gotten him a sleep number.

I don't understand why this dude can't just fucking keep his mouth shut. Why does he keep making it harder for himself?

Ayton is 25. I think a lot of people do shit when they're around that age then look back on it and realize how it was hurting them. Being aware of what you're doing to yourself isn't the easiest thing.

Now what you have to ask yourself is who is looking out for this guy? Why wouldn't his family or agent make sure this shit wasn't happening and why the fuck didn't the training staff or anyone in our franchise know it was happening?

Yeah, what an idiot assuming that the fans would want the truth and might not jump on him for trivial shit. Jesus, this is the small-town attitude that drives players away from Portland. Do yourself a favor and imagine he's playing for free and all your anger should dissipate.

He's making TENS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS PER YEAR.

There is no reason at all for him to be sleeping on an air mattress. None. Zero. Zip. Nada. Zilch.

Give me a fucking break dude. It's not like we traded for him in the middle of the season. He had months to prepare for the season. And my frustration is with him constantly opening his mouth instead of just focusing on playing the game.

These people should all have agents and publicists and team reps to help prevent this kind of thing.

How is this the responsibility of the Blazers?
It's Ayton's responsibility (and somewhat his agent's) to make sure everything in his personal life is correct. But ultimately, Ayton's a big boy... He can make his own decisions.

Totally with ya on this. The organization should have people in place to ask questions and take care of issues just like this. If not the organization how about his family? Pretty sure I would have enough people around me for this not to be a problem.

It's not the responsibility of the team, but they do it anyway. They sometimes go above and beyond to make sure that players are taken care of. They sometimes hire family members just to make sure that the player is where they need to be on time.

There is a guy (or used to be) named Geoff Clark. He is director of player health and performance. The team has people on staff to take care of things just like this so players can worry about basketball.

Yeah.... it really shouldn't be about whether it's "the team's responsibility" to take care of x, y, and z. What matters is whether or not it's in the team's best interest to take care of it, or at least be certain that it's handled properly. Even if Ayton at 25 years old absolutely should, beyond a shadow of a doubt, know that doing everything possible to take the best possible care of his body should be absolutely paramount, there is always a possibility that he doesn't know, understand, or care. The team has enough invested in the guy that they should have been all over this from the beginning.

Bingo. He doesn't have anybody good he trusts as a mentor. Not that the people around him are bad people, but they obviously aren't giving him the help and guidance he requires.

I was gonna say, who invests 10’s of millions of dollars on a human and then doesn't maintain that investment for the purpose of maximum return?
It’s absolutely in the best interest of the franchise to make sure all aspects of the investment is covered on and off the court, or it could be a potential wasted investment.

Im not saying this is the case but there is the possibility they have done this and he doesn't listen. Thats the only possibility i would see on this if the franchise and family are feeding him good advice.

Bottom line is he talks too much though. Stop digging media holes…

I'm not blaming anyone. But he's obviously not getting good guidance, or if he is, he doesn't respect whoever is giving it.
