It was mostly tongue and cheek. Though he's not untradable to me; nobody on the roster is. If a team wanted to get off a young player wit a bigger deal I would consider it. For example, if Sacramento wanted to get off Fox, you do that in my opinion. Of course, I don't think those deals will be on the table for Portland.
The question was in response to your response to a statement that the team was building for the future. You asked the question but I simply responded with they have been in tank mode for three years already. Again I’ll ask. How many more years should they be in asset acquisition mode? 2? 3?. That begins to sound like 5-6 years of tanking is fine? For some that might be. For some that is entirely too long knowing we just jettisoned one of the best players this team has ever had.
They could probably be ready to put together a competent roster for next season if they landed two decent players in the draft, but that wouldn't guarantee any sort of playoff success long-term—it's more of a question for the estateship and whether they're done with this rebuild thing. If you go with that approach you could very well end up like the Pistons or the Rockets where you are trying to win but your future core is questionmarks.<shrug> If you're asking me (and it seems you really want to know), I think you stay in asset acquisition/development mode 'as long as it takes' until you have a couple of bankable future stars on your roster. Right now they have some serious work to do at the 3/4 if they want to exit this phase. Sharpe and Scoot are nice but I don't think they're enough to build a roster around. Ant will probably stick around in the medium term but probably won't be part of the ultimate contention path. It sounds like you're getting impatient—I don't blame you.
forget that. Billups might play him 45 minutes in heated battles, and re-aggravate Shaedon's spleenatoid
Kind of seems unnecessary IMO. It's not like we are trying to win, so why not just bring him off the blazer bench? I guess it will just be one game.
He's assigned to them so he can practice with them, and possibly play in games, while the Blazers are on the road. The Remix have 2 more (home) games, and this way he can practice with the team and also be at the PF, and be observed by the team. Seems like a no brainer.
team will likely not be practicing on a super busy road trip and team probably wants to put direct eyes on him at the PF to make sure everything is looking right with the remix. if he wants to practice with the remix the team has to issue these PRs—same thing happened with scoot earlier in the year. hopefully he looks good at full speed and he meets up with the team on the road. my uneducated guess is that he stays in portland and plays in the final 4 games after the road trip.
Sharpe has played with Badji, Knox and Minaya before, not sure if he's played with Taze Moore.....it'll be a famiiar place for him to get into game shape. It's awesome having the Remix in Portland.
Can you imagine the release 4 years ago? ‘shaedon sharpe has been assigned to practice against the equipment staff.’
