he went 3/13 tonight leaving him at 283-736 assuming he shoots 50 times in the remaining 4 games, he'd have to go 42/50 to hit .400
Guess what? Scoot has been terribly inefficient but when the time comes for people in the media to vote for all rookie team, they'll put Scoot on the first team because he's the 4th leading scorer in his rookie class and that includes Chet in front of him and he's the number one guy in his class in assists. For those of you wondering if anyone has more turnovers per game than Scoot the answer is yes... Wemby.
Personally it's the biggest thing I'm concerned about. Absolutely no left hand whatsoever. Every drive to the hoop the opposing team knows exactly what he's going to do. Until that changes he will continue to get swatted, make crazy contortions, turn the ball over, or have to look for some kind of crazy pass leading to a late shot clock attempt by another player out of position. He needs to work on finishing shots with his left hand. When he does that his shooting will improve.
Ya the skill and touch on his shots leaves a ton to be desired. His hands are massive too, so I'm more concerned if it will ever improve. Especially since the gap from where he is now to where he needs to be is massive.
I love that album! If you have Beck's Odelay you will recognize a sample from that album. It also helps that two of those people look EXACTLY like me and a roommate I had once (at different times). The roommate (who is batshit insane, but in a civilized way).
I was assuming that Nate was referring to shooting other than finishing at the basket. I think his floater and three point will be OK. Worry about his finishing and discipline and decision-making both on defense and offense.
I'd be really surprised if Scoot is on the 1st team. I think it will probably be Wemby-Chet-Miller-Amen-Jaquez. And I'd think other rookies ranked ahead of Scoot would be GG Jackson, Lively, and maybe Whitmore & Podzeminski (sp?) I wouldn't be surprised if Keyonte George is ranked ahead of Scoot. there was just too much pre-draft media hype for Scoot followed by the same media noticing Scoot's disappointing and inefficient season
Hard to say? The NBA is so marketing driven..... NBA Rookie of the Year 2023-24: Victor Wembanyama ...Sportsnauthttps://sportsnaut.com › nba-rookie-of-the-year-candida...
Agreed. Anybody can be a good shooter. ANYBODY. It literally only takes fundamental reps with intention. The more of those you get the better shooter you'll be. Scoot has never had to worry about thet before. He seems aggressive and confident. He'll either stay that way and turn into a very good player or he'll lose confidence and may not make it.
Only thing I'll amend is that he needs to work on scoring with his left hand. That's concerning. But overall it's about his feel for the game and cutting down on mistakes, and that will come with time and experience.
Absolutely. That is another thing he has never needed. He was able to hide that in the G league. But again, capability of finishing with your off hand is something that can be fixed in a an off-season or two. But the reality is, in the NBA a guy that size is probably not going to get a lot of clean looks in the paint. He needs to have it in his bag, for sure, if for no other reason than it will help him get to the foul line and get him more room to shoot jumpers.
Guess you could be correct but the conversation over the last 2-3 pages is about his shooting efficiency. His efficiency would be much better if he could make a layup around the basket instead of getting swatted anytime he is 4 foot from the hoop. The extra effort trying to get a clean shot with his right hand every time is killing his efficiency. At least that's the way I see it. Not knocking the kid at all. He will work on this I'm certain. In the NBA you need to be able to score with both hands around the basket.
To me, shooting and finishing at the rim are two different things. We knew there was concerns about shooting before the season started. I'm still not worried about that. I think he has improved. The finishing is concerning and I'm hoping we see improvement next season.
