2 to 1 offensive zone time isn't good but a win is a win.

This will be a tough series that can go seven again. Getting game one is big because I expect a tougher Carolina effort on Tuesday.

Nice break there with the trip or you know we'd likely be headed to OT.

Neither team played their best. Anderson was shaky so it would’ve been bad to let this one slip away.

This was Carolina’s chance to steal one. They didn’t. We’ll be better after a week off Tuesday. Have to continue to pound them. Rangers in 5.

Sveshithead is talented, but he’s fucking stupid and you could take advantage of that. He can’t control his temper.

Important to win game 1, not perfect, but in the playoffs, you take the win and move forward. And the Canes are a very good team, so you win it is good no matter what.

Our biggest advantage in this series is in goal, and we need to take advantage of that by getting a lot of pucks on Andersen. The 4th goal was also great to see from Panarin, and should be a lesson to the Rangers, get pucks on net. That was a weak goal by Andersen, but only happens if Panarin shoots like he did. Get pucks on Andersen.

Game 2 will be our biggest challenge by far. The Canes know going down 2-0 is a huge hill, we are due for a little downer, I always felt this series would be 1-1 going to Carolina. Will be a tough game for us to win, but I will say this, if we ever find a way to win it, we are in the driver's seat big time, and it would really show me something about this team yet again. Going to be a tough one.

I will be shocked if we don’t win game 2. Carolina’s last stand will be game 3.

Agree 100%. This is going to be a long tough series, as the Canes are very good. Winning game 1 is important to get the jump early in what will be a close hard-fought series.

I hope you are right. I know you guys don't like all the numbers, but teams that go up 2-0 in the NHL win the series like 86% of the time, and it is even higher when you win the first two at home. It is a huge edge in a sport where home ice doesn't mean all that much.

Perfect example, 58% of game 7's are won by the home team in hockey, meanwhile 75% of game 7's are won by the home team in the NBA. Home court matters in the NBA, home ice just doesn't matter that much in the NHL.

For the record, Subban did pick the Rangers to beat the Canes in 7.

One other thing, I would probably guess that Brind laid into his team about the penalties after the first period, and they only took one the rest of the game. The Rangers are going to have to do work at even strength in this series also as I don't see the Canes giving them a lot of PP opportunities.

The Canes had the better of the play in the third, but how much of that was due to us leading and trying to protect, they also did well on FO's in the third and ended up winning 53.1% overall.

BTW - big props to Zibanejad, he has come to play so far in the 5 playoff games. He was very good today and made a big play late when the Canes had their goalie pulled. Still needs to shoot more, but overall, he has been very good so far. Like to see it.

For a week off the Rangers looked great, need to keep up the physical play and this will be a quick series, the Canes have a plethora of douchebags that hate getting hit and will do stupid things in retaliation. Great start aside from Fox channeling soft Adam from past postseasons, Fox needs to stay on his skates and give the occasional shove.

Bummed I missed the majority of the game but got to listen to Panarin's goal on the radio and home in time to watch the final 5 minutes or so.
Going 2 for 2 on the PP is impressive considering their PK is supposed to be good (I think).

This will go 6 min. I’m surprised Chytil didn’t play but Rempe seems to be there good luck charm.

Totally agree, this is going 6 or 7 games. Two very good teams battling in a long close series is what I see.

As for Chytil, I think he will play in this series. Under the if it isn't broken don't fix it mindset, I would guess we won't see him until the Rangers lose a game. Still TBD who he replaces, I doubt it is Rempe as all the Rangers seem to do is win with him in the lineup, maybe that is a coincidence and maybe it is not, but it is the reality. Maybe that changes if the Canes win a couple of games, but right now it is difficult to see happening.

Starting to think if Chytil plays Roslovic sits as Chytil was taking some shifts with Kreider and Zibanejad in practice, but truth be told Roslovic has played pretty well, and that line has played well. The only other options would by Cuylle or Kakko, and I think Lav likes that 3rd line right now with Wennberg. Again, a good problem to have.

It's the playoffs so injuries are practically inevitable...that could be the impetus for when he plays and who he comes in for.

Wheeler back at practice in a non-contact jersey.
