Not much to say about this one. They’re playing an excellent team that makes scoring very difficult. Still, need to find a way to get more shots and need to bury the good chances they do get. Need to be a lot more aggressive.

Yes, Lafreniere tipped it in, but what the F is Igor doing there? Gave the puck to the Panthers, and then wasn't really back and set in position when the puck went in off Laf. We need better from Igor if we are going to win this series.

On top of that, the Rangers played with very little passion, emotion, or compete level in this game, certainly not close to enough for the ECF. Florida deserves credit as well for how they play, but come on, outside of a couple of minutes there in the 3rd after they killed the penalty, the Rangers were flat all night. They didn't shoot enough and missed the net a ton all game. They have to raise their game about 5 levels to win this series.

I'll also add, the article I read was right, Wennberg has to be on the 4th line, the guy adds absolutely zero O, and cannot score. I would swap Cuylle and Wennberg, or even put Wheeler there with Chytil and Kakko and maybe scratch Goodrow or Vesey. Wennberg kills the 3rd line with regards to scoring ability,

I think it is kind of simple, the Rangers either up their level BIG-TIME and win game 2, or this could be a shorter series than anyone thought. Need to win game 2 and all we will be fine.

Not to go crazy after one game but again this is the crap Drury added at the deadline. They have added absolutely nothing at all. Not even exaggerating. They have done jack shit.

I could be wrong, but if I were giving %'s, I would say 20% is Florida and how they play, the other 80% is on us. We played with very little energy tonight, especially for an ECF game, we didn't shoot near enough when we had chances, and missed the net a ton when we did actually shoot. On top of that Igor let in 2 goals he shouldn't have, and the 2nd goal was caused by his terrible handling of the puck.

I say all that, because the Rangers have done this before, the Canes game 5, the Devs last year, TB in the past, so I don't think it was oh Florida was so tough, I think it was more oh the Rangers need to raise their level in a major way. Not saying they'll win for sure if they do because the Panthers are very good, but they have no shot if they don't, and that is on them not Florida.

Also want to add, they need to be much much more aggressive, you are spot on there.

Chytil will probably be out the rest of the series after that hit

I don't know if saying the Rangers need more from Igor is sensible. The Rangers need to break the forecheck pressure and get shots. Being able to finish would be nice too...one of those breakaways goes in and its an entirely new game.

It was disappointing, but it was one game, and if we raise our level, which I expect, we'll have a very good chance to win game 2. I also say again, Wennberg needs to be down to the 4th line, he simply cannot score, and he really hurts the 3rd line. Move Cullye up or put Wheeler there with Chytil and Kakko. We need O from our 3rd line in this series, and it will not happen with Wennberg there.

As for the trade DL, not going there again right now. Drury didn't get it done, but with Chytil and Wheeler back, we can overcome it if we raise our compete level.

100% agree, like I said the Rangers need to play with much more energy and passion and shoot more when they have the chance, and hit the net more, those are by far the biggest things. You are right about breaking the forecheck as well. The Igor comment is more he was not as on tonight as usual. The goals that went in usually do not. But when you do not score clearly the goalie is not close to your biggest issue, and Igor wasn't, the energy, passion, playing like you are in the ECF are WAY bigger issues. The Igor comment was more of an observation than he cost us a game where we didn't play with energy or score a goal. Igor is way down the list of why we lost tonight, no doubt.

I think the Rangers were kind of flat, and didn't play like it was game 1 of the ECF, they played like it was a mid-January game.

But again, it is one game. We win game 2 and we'll be okay. But now we need to win game 2 IMO.
