Rest in peace Big Bill - You were the center piece of one of the best Blazers teams ever! We will remember you every Memorial day from now on!
Bill Walton and that amazing Trail Blazer team was such a special part of my childhood. From listening to games on a small transistor radio under the blankets in bed to my friends and I chasing down on our bikes any and every Portland Police car the summer after they won the championship for Trail Blazer trading cards. I wish Bill's battle with cancer would have been made public, he deserved to be celebrated and flooded with our love and admiration.
I didn’t get to see him at all, I was born 20 years after that championship team. I only knew him as the quirky weird guy on TV but he was so Portland. Weird guy, but man he was so likeable. The way people talk really strike with me, he definitely doesn’t talk like he was a star: There was also a video of Bill talking about Lucas and him being the reason Bill named his son Luke that I watched. Things like that matter to me for some reason. RIP Big Red.
Ayo thank you Bill, for everything. Namely being you, but mainly for your part in making us champions. Say hey to Jerry Garcia and tell him that Cherry Garcia is still one of my favorite ice cream flavors.
I hope the Blazers add a patch to the jerseys this year honoring him or something like that cause IF not for him this franchise would not have a ring . This is a MUST do for the team for the up coming season -- period
He was kind of my younger hero, though he developed a few conservative kinks after his playing era. Most talented basketball center in history. My son texted me to tell me, so I came here to check the board.
