Bill Walton would have named every player on that roster and said that if it weren’t for them. Absolute class act.
I'm crushed! I met him many times over the years but from San Diego in my Navy days to Portland...I was a huge fan, still am. RIP Throw it down Big Guy!!!!!!!!!!
In the words of the late Norm McDonald....people say you lost a battle with cancer but the way I see it ...it's a draw...the cancer dies as soon as you do.
RIP. Undoubtedly had the greatest run and during that run was the best Trail Blazers player ever to do it. If that makes him the Blazers GOAT, then he's the GOAT and what a guy to have represent our team. The greatness of his huge heart being the only thing that could eclipse the greatness he showed when he was at the top of his game. He is and will be missed.
Bill loved the game so much and it was evident when his announcing career as a color analyst was at it's zenith. I'm sure it annoyed some people because I heard them voicing their annoyance but he dubbed a different guy the greatest rebounder, defender, player or whatever else seemingly every game. The game really lit Walton up and he's a one of one personality that we may never see approximated.
him an an analyst was amazing. if you are/were an anal POS, I’d get it because he’d anoint people as this or that every game, but he did it to talk them up. He was intelligent and engaging.
One of the greatest, at everything he did, while making it look easy and tons of fun. And Bill did it his way. RIP big guy.
Had a chance to visit with Bill the summer after winning it all here. He said the strongest toughest center to play against was Artis Gilmore. He wanted Portland to find a away to get Reggie Theus as he loved his passing with the running rebels.
