Is a top 6 shaping up? If you had to bet, who's DEFINITELY gone by our first pick?

I'd say 100% certain:
Sarr
Risacher
...but that's about it.

Very likely gone:
Castle (boo)
Sheppard
Buzelis ?

I completely agree that Sarr/Risacher are going 1-2 ("Honk once/twice" in Atlanta!!), but who goes 3-6 seems completely up in the air. Vote for 4 in the poll (I've listed the players currently 3-12 on nbadraftroom.com), and feel free to explain your reasoning and argue with others'.

For myself, I picked Sheppard (to Houston), Castle (to San Antonio), Buzelis (to Detroit), and Knecht (to Charlotte). If it were to shake out like that, I think Holland would probably be the pick (though I'd probably prefer Williams).

I voted for these 4 (Clingan, Buzelis, Castle, and Sheppard) But I also think Topic could easily replace one of them.

Based on my current read of the situation

1. Sarr - this could be Risacher though. It all depends on what Atlanta plans to do with Tra.
2. Risacher - the Wiz are a mystery to me. I would think they'd want to go with the biggest star potential and that might actually be Dillingham.
3. Sheppard - I think this pick might be traded.
4. Castle - this could be Castle, or it could be Topic. Or it could be Dillingham. I think they go for a point guard.
5. Buzelis - another pick that could be traded.
6. Holland - if I'm Charlotte, I'm going with the biggest star potential and they already have shooters. I think Holland makes a lot of sense as a shooting guard next to Ball and Miller.
7. Topic - purely BPA. Assumption being that we move one or both of Brogdon and Simons.
8. Salaun - I think SAS wants a Frenchy to pair with Wemby. This pick would make a lot of sense.
9. Clingan - this pick makes tons of sense.
10. Dillingham - best star potential for Utah to pair with Markkanen.
11. Knecht - would make the most sense if they're still trying to win now.
12. Cody Williams - pair him with his brother.
13. Kings - BPA (not sure who they go with)
14. Blazers - BPA

We're trading the pick in a desperate push to be a play-in team again.

"See, I told you this is a reload instead of a rebuild."

You voted Dillingham in the poll, yet you list Buzelis at 5 and Dillingham at 10 in this post.

3) Houston -> Sheppard (or Castle) -> Guard for the future
4) Spurs -> Topic (or Castle) -> Guard for the future
5) Pistons -> Buzelis -> Nepotism
6) Charlotte -> Castle (or Sheppard/Topic) -> finding the 2 guard of the future

7) Portland -> Holland -> Highest upside wing

Because it's so completely unknown who San Antonio is going to take. I'm sure it's going to be a point guard at 4, but is it Castle? Is it Dillingham? Is it Topic? I could see any one of those three guys going there. I think Dillingham could slip if he isn't taken at 4.

If Sheppard/Castle go 3-4, you think Charlotte would take Topic over Knecht as their 2 guard of the future?

Yeah... I see a significant talent gap there.
If I were them, I'd 100% take Topic over Knecht.

I don't disagree that there's likely a talent gap. I was just wondering about the pairing with Lamelo. Seems like Topic's best traits would be limited there.

I don't know why they'd take Knecht over Holland. THey have shooting with Miller and Ball. They can have Holland be a tall SG who slashes and plays tough D.

Would just depend on if they value Knecht's NBA-ready offensive game or Holland's defense. Also, I have no idea what kind of ball-handler either of them are, which is a relatively important skill for a 2-guard (another argument for Topic über alles).

I believe the 6 players picked before the 7th pick will be gone before the 7th pick.
It's almost a certainty in my humble opinion.

I see Matas dropping to the teens.

Also, Detroit, Charlotte, and Portland are unlikely to take point guards, so the Spurs might swing for a wing at 4 and likely get the PG they're looking for to still be available at 8.

Givony thinks they will take Clingan.
I was wondering about that. Right now this poll's results have Sheppard/Castle/Buzelis/Clingan, and I could definitely see it going in that order, if Charlotte thinks DC would be an upgrade over the relatively unknown (but seemingly effective) Nick Richards.

Dillingham has always been my pick to be the one who could slide. Not everyone needs a PG and Castle and Topic are bigger and better.

I don't see Houston keeping #3.

If they do keep the pick, then my vote is for Sheppard.

Castle and the nonsense surrounding him screams of chicanery coming from the Spurs at 4.

Detroit is very confusing to me. No clue what they do. Do they go completely out of left field and take Topic?

Klingan at 6 makes some sense for Charlotte. Maybe.

Having been the target of many a "did this need to be a thread?" complaints, I'd like it noted that this was one thread I did NOT start. I just INSPIRED it.

I'm wondering who takes Clingan. If he drops to us do we have to take him? I mean, if he's really "the next Walker Kessler"... (although the actual WK didn't look so great his second year). If he goes in the top six I can see Detroit taking him. Their defense was abysmal, and I don't think they love Jalen Duren as much as this board seems to.

I’d rather take Edey than Clingan.

I was listening to a few people talk about Dillingham, and they think he's the most likely to average 20ppg in the NBA. They think he'd be killer in the PNR with Wemby.
