Before moving into the NFL, he was the academic coordinator for the football team at Duke, his alma mater, and assisted the Blue Devils' coaching staff with recruiting.The addition of Farmer likely concludes the offseason shuffling in the Kansas City front office. One of the NFL's most stable franchises, the Chiefs did not lose any management personnel, but some members of the front office changed roles and titles.Farmer ostensibly replaces Billy Kuharich, who on Feb. 10 was promoted to vice president of player personnel, after three seasons as vice president of pro personnel. Also during the offseason, the Chiefs promoted longtime front office member Dennis Thum from assistant general manager to executive vice president/chief operating officer.Carl Peterson remains team president and general manager but has indicated that his current contract, which has four years remaining, will be his last before he retires.The widely respected Farmer, a safety at Duke, was a fourth-round choice of the Philadelphia Eagles in the 1996 draft.
