Are they going to see her getting pushed around or someone who's the recipient of hype and not good enough to warrant record-setting attendance numbers? Or both? I don't know why someone would be celebrating a player if they feel that she's just not that good. She talks like she's good, and she was really good in college, but she's not a mascot and no one should be celebrating her existence if they're playing with and against her. That doesn't mean they should be taking cheap shots, of course, except insofar as it helps them win the game. A huge advantage of the Clark hype is that there are more eyeballs on the WNBA than ever before... and more media attention and hype. Maybe it was just a matter of more folks seeing the league. Or maybe it's just not that interesting as far as high level basketball goes. If the cult of Clark personality fades, either because she's not good enough to perpetuate it or there's something else that distracts, and the league goes back to where it's been the first 25 years, then it'll be interesting to see what WNBA die hards say then.
The WNBA won't fold if Clark doesn't meet expectations and I see no reason why she won't. There are other new stars. Perhaps best thing for Clark would be for hoopla to die down so she can concentrate on her game.
Watched the Liberty run circles around the Fever yesterday. THAT'S fun basketball. Everybody moving and cutting off the ball, great passing, open shots. Incredible. Clark just needs to it out of her head that she needs to dominate the ball. Her team is better when she's out of the game because they play better team basketball without her. She's not going to be able to dominate the best players in the world like she was able to dominate college. That doesn't mean she's a bad player, it just means she's going to have to adjust her game. As was mentioned on the broadcast, Clark needs to call Sabrina after the season ask to train together. She needs a mentor like that. I'm sure Sabrina would be happy to help.
Doesn't help Fever don't actually hold practice. I agree Clark is best when she is not trying to put on a show. Many players warned pro game is faster and more physical than college and even biggest stars need to learn.
Every hero needs a villain or two or even three. This just all seems staged to me. Even this thread that had basically very little life has doubled it's posts in two days.

Yes. Unfortunately on a bad team with bad coach. As to her not winning anything...she made it to title game twice. How much had Dame won in his rookie season?
what are "her" numbers? She's 6th in the WNBA in usage and 5th if FGA but only 18th in scoring while shooting 36% on FG's and under 30% on three's Sabrina is putting up much better numbers and her team is winning. Granted, Sabrina is a vet and Clarke is a rookie, but Clarke is actually struggling so far to come anywhere close to he college marks I think Clarke will eventually climb into the elite level of the league, but unsurprisingly she's a long ways away right now
1. Clark got the $$$ off the court. Enjoy it. 2. If she has a rep for flopping, she needs to stop flopping immediately. 3. On a cheap shot that puts her down, the worst looks are (1) complaining and (2) not having a teammate in the picture giving the cheap shot artist the business. She’s on a crappy team.
I haven't seen anybody saying she's just hype. People just shouldn't expect her to produce like she did in college. Defense is just too tough in the pros. She needs to learn to move more without the ball and pass the ball earlier instead of forcing up contested shots or passes. She'll be fine. But it won't be like college. And that's fine.
She way overreacts but she'll learn not too. As a rookie flopping in any league pro basketball league is just asking for it. That hit she took wasn't that bad at all and now some are saying she was assaulted? I love that some of these gals are tough.

An enforcer that will knock those girls on their ass when they do that to Clark. Every team should have one.
Maybe she should work on getting her teammates to like her enough to stick up for her I guess? Seriously though, I don't think most players are worried about your teammate beating them up. At some point you just need to shut your mouth and make them pay on the court.
