A great day it will be when he's traded.

Unfortunately, this is Cronins CJ - He won't trade him.

PS: I also think that Grant would flourish with Pops….

even better !! Wipe Cronin's luxury tax problems off the board with a 1 year Ben Simmons rental and walk. Make sure to catch him saying he wants to stay in Portland. That way fans can use the Aldridge narrative. It's not the GM's fault if Ben said he would stay, then bails out without draft compensation.

the Vulcans & Cronin chose Anfernee to lead this new era of Blazers basketball. This decision was well before Scoot. It was part of the teardown process. Build a new squad through losing. Push Dame out the door. Lose and draft draft draft and lose and draft draft draft draft with Anfernee as team captain.

How's it looking so far ??
    COMPLICATED
Winning is for losers, and losing is winning. Be a winner by enjoying the losing. Only losers complain about the losing. Stop whining, and be a winner. Let Cronin lose for winning.

Not to be argumentative, but Lillard led the team to a sweep in the WCF his best season. I don’t envision Ant getting close to even that failure. Time to cut bait there and yes, draft, draft and draft until you have two stars that can score at will and are not defensive liabilities. Then fill out the team around them. I like Scoot/Sharpe and Ayton. Interested in what they draft and send out this summer and looking forward to the first pick next year. Dreaming is free, buying tickets is expensive.

Think POP's wants to win now, he's old and Wemby is ready.

    This trade helps both teams:
SA gets - Ant Simons in a three for 1.
PTB's get - Jeremy Sochan, Julian Champagnie & Devonte Graham (salary with 1 year) buy out? We get two young forwards 4&3

The poll is a question of where people think Ant ends up - has nothing to do with their personal opinion of Ant being held or traded.

It'll be great if we get a great asset in return.

If all we get is luxury tax relief and a weak asset because of also signing Thybulle and Grant... it will be a big waste.

If the Blazers trade for Ben Simmons he's totally irrelevant here... just sit on the IR until the trade deadline and either flip or buyout.

Should be zero concern of how Ben would or wouldn't fit in a Blazers rotation. Only concern is what assets Blazers can get for absorbing his deal.

Ant to NY for Randle makes a ton of sense. Now I think its a stupid strategy for the Blazers to acquire a more win now guy like Randle over youth/picks - but I don't expect good long term strategies from the Blazers. I agree it gives NY a scoring dynamic they need, they also have the defense to hide Ant fine. Hart started at PF for them in the playoffs so I think they can still fit all their guards together. They probably plan to eventually flip some players and picks for more of a star upgrade anyways (Bridges/etc).

Totally agree. Trading Ant for a useful return is fine. Trading him so Scoot/Sharpe have more room to play 40+ mpg with no backups and both being injury prone seems extremely stupid.

We literally had 0 healthy games with all 3 of these guys last season.

I chose "other" in the poll. I think Detroit is getting tired of finishing the season in last place and drafting 5th. They want to start winning some games and desperately need shooting. I think Anfernee would fit in well as a SG next to Cade at the point. They kind of cover eachother's weaknesses (at least offensively). I have no idea what the possible pieces could entail. That is not my bailiwick. I think the motivation could be there for both teams though.

Graham wouldn't need to be part of that deal. The Spurs are just under the salary cap if they opt in on Graham, Champagnie and Bassey and sign all of their 4 draft picks but one of those four or both second rounders could be two ways because the three opt ins and two first rounders put them at 14 players on the roster. I know they could have 15. All that I'm saying is we'd only have to take Graham if we wanted him.

As far as the trade goes, I love it for us but I think the Spurs likely value Sochan and Champagnie more than both picks 4 and 8 in this draft. I'm pretty sure they could get Ant easily for the 4th pick and might be able to pry him away for the 8th... allowing them to keep Sochan, Champagnie and at least one lotto pick. I'd love to be wrong... Champagnie and even more so Sochan are definitely the type of guys we need and they have proven they can already play decently at the NBA level.

Yeah I think no trade or the field of 23 not listed teams is certainly the two most likely outcomes.

I agree but if I had to pick two teams out of the whole league who both have the assets to get Ant and likely would want him the most... I'd probably pick Orlando and San Antonio.

I mean, he's a waste on this team so I see it as a wash.
