You need to roll through Babylon 5. All 5 seasons were mapped out before shooting began so they knew how they wanted to end it. DS9 and BSG I really enjoyed but they never knew where the story arc would end and they both failed to stick the landing. BSG especially.

Also, while B5 had nowhere near the budget that DS9 did, they were first with the Space Station at the center of the religious-based battle of good vs evil.

I'll have to give it another shot sometime. I have half-heartedly tried to start it a couple of times, but it didn't stick. Probably have to watch enough to get used to the level of visuals and special effects offered (sort of like Eccleston era Doctor Who).

They were amazing... in 1993! They haven't aged well, but the story is exceptional through Season 4.

They did a HiDef upgrade a few years back and since Warner Brothers now owns HBO they have put it up on Max occasionally.

I agree about season 5 but the last few episodes are must-watch.

Yeah, I typically do Season 4 and then the final episode and call it good

I only had two problems with Janeway:

    1. Her first name being “Katherine” always made her introductions a bit bulky from a multi syllabic point of view. Always sounded a bit to me like she was saying Captain Captain Amway. But maybe that’s just me.

    2. They never showed her character smoking. You know with that raspy voice she had to be burning a couple of packs a day.

I didn't like her at the time it aired, but I had a lot of insecurities back then. On a more modern rewatch I found her kickass and compelling.

I don't care if the shows are about women...... Ahsoka is my favorite Star Wars character from the cartoons..... I just wish the writing was better. I'm not sure why the live action Ahsoka show was so mediocre. It's the same damn writer/director who did the cartoons. I think it's because there's only 8 episodes and he's used to doing 20 episode seasons. The storyline isn't fleshed out enough. Also, I took issue with them trying to make Sabine into a Jedi. Not EVERYONE needs to be a fucking Jedi. She was an awesome character before.

And I was most disappointed with the Acolyte because I was hoping they'd go further back during the Sith empire. Only going back 100 years was a cop out. Plus, the very first scene felt like it was ripped right out of the Matrix because of the fighting style. Has anyone ever seen kung fu in Star Wars before? It just felt weird. And I think making the Jedi into the bad guys is just so..... lame. I still think the best live action show has been Andor by a very wide margin, followed by the Mandalorian. Best movie from Disney was Rogue One.... again.... by a very wide margin.

This times 1000. Not that I watched the Ahsoka cartoon before, or am that entrenched in Star Wars lore outside of the 10 movies (not counting that clap trap Han Solo).

    But it's the *writing*.

The writing and acting in the Han Solo movie was why it sucked (that and the guy looked and acted nothing like Han Solo did in any other movies).

The writing and acting wasn't great in the Obi Wan series. The best episodes of the Boba Fett series were the ones starring Mando.

The Ghostbusters (female version) was bad not because of the stars, but because the writing was dumb.

The reason why R1 was so awesome (and arguably one of the best female leads in a star wars series) was because the writing, story and plot was good. The reason why Last Jedi and RoS was "meh" at best and downright trash at worst, wasn't because of Daisy Ridley, but because the plot and story Arch was rushed and poorly written.

One could even argue the worst part of those 2 movies was the character story Arch of Luke and Kylo Ren, both men.

People want good writing and good plots, and in the long run don't care if it's a female lead vs a male lead (for the most part). However, for some reason
    sexism
, people will bitch, make inane pointless posts about movies that star women as the leads, or have more female dominated storylines.

    Oh no! they're lesbians!

Disney, well-known for their deep and nuanced plots, purchased Star Wars, a franchise well-known for great writing... and we're all surprised by this? This is a large corporation being purchased by a larger corporation entirely to fill out a content stream for a demographic they found themselves not fully exploiting.

Also What's happening, 227, Amen and Benson (tho I guess that one is harder to argue since it wasn't a mostly black cast, but Robert Guillaume...who btw would've been 97 this year!?) and the Cosby show.

Tho maybe that last one is justified for not being included...

The problem is that a lot of these Marvel shows or Star Wars shows are done by people who don't know the source material/don't like the source material and they just want the husk of an established IP so that they can create their own stinky garbage. They need to stop hiring writers/directors who don't even seem to like the genres that they're creating.

She-Hulk was a very popular comic, but the show was just very..... meh.

Echo was apparently not interesting enough, because they completely changed her super power in the TV show and it flopped.
