Trade him for a subway gift card cause the real news is Super Mario ( Mario Hezonja ) wants to return to the NBA so trade Ant for whatever and sign Mario and the Blazers will be golden and a ring will come next year for sure -- lol

Clingan and Edey both would have major minutes neither could be on the court. Doesn't make sense to have them on the same roster when they can only split backup minutes. Neither can ever be a full-time starter.

So what if we can never trade him for a starting level player?

Doesn't make sense that so many posters talk about how Ant can't be a key member of the Blazers but then assume we can trade him for a key member of the Blazers.

If Blazers can trade Ant for more than hes worth then do it. If not keep him around. Pretty simple.

This can't fit in a trade machine- Grant and Thybulle don't make enough to bring back Ingram and Markennen salary. Blazers also would be in luxury tax (not happening)

This would be a horrific use of the two best picks from the Dame trade, using them on Markennen while your resulting Blazers are worse than any of Dame recent years here. Blazers need to continue what they started with the Dame trade and build for the future, not reverse course every few months.

Edey makes zero sense with this roster since you have too many guys needing touches, as well as touches needed off the bench, and Edey needs the whole offense modified for him to be on the court in his limited backup minutes.

If they can't trade him for a starting level player or draft pick equivalent to a starting level player then we are overvaluing him and overpaying him, and he should certainly not be starting much longer.

That being tge caee he'll probably need to be traded because we can't be giving such a terrible defender that kind of financial commitment if we want our younger players to be serious about playing defense.

That just semds tge wrong message.

I think the Blazers will start Ant, Sharp & Scoot to show case his game for deadline trade.

It's more about showcasing Ant. Hopefully Joe can negotiate a decent trade before season starts though.

Ant will get his 30 minutes a game whether he starts or comes off the bench. I see no reason why the Blazers need to move Sharpe to SF just to showcase Ant. The only way I would play Sharpe at SF is if we drafted Castle. But even in that case I would start Castle, move Ant to the bench, and trade. Scoot.

I’m not seeing the Blazers as a player in free agency except as a seller. IMHO, the draft should be their free agency on working on the line-up AND as a future’s market. Get a 1-3 pick and move up from 14 while making trades — Grant, Ant, Brogdon. Make the trade partners better with veterans while being committed to the rebuild through the draft and development.

Any contending team — Philly — (or team with cap space who wants to win) who misses on free agency $$$ players is a good place for a good-not-great veteran not moved during the draft.

    1. No forward in the draft is plug and play with Grant’s skills/abilities. The Blazers don’t need ANY good players in return — just ones with a year remaining (maybe 2) and take back less money. The top 3 is the target.
    2. Ant to the Spurs + 8 and filler is more than fair. [w/ 7 is a Saluan + Williams grab]
    3. SAC at 13 is another target to reunite brothers.

I definitely would like to get Williams and Salaun in this draft.
I would prefer to get rid of Grant's contract to do it since we would be drafting two forwards.

Maye trade Brogdon (plus 34) to the Lakers for 17. Then trade 14, 17, and Grant to Houston or Detroit.

That could be a possibility as at this point they all are simply assets/poker chips.

The issue is a lot of the teams the Blazers will sell vets to won't want to buy them as the first option. They will want our vets if they don't get their A choice in free agency. So that won't be known until after July 4th. The trick is we need to get to complete the draft and then get out of the tax so it might be difficult to accomplish those tasks as early as the Blazers would prefer.

I just don’t see how the team with the worst 3 point shooting in the league can part with both Brogdon and Simons this summer, yet that seems to be the prevailing preference on this board.

    because it doesn't matter.

The Blazers won't be winning many games in any case. Spreading the floor for 25-28 wins is useless. Portland should be all about adding whatever rebuilding assets they can gather, not straddling a fence by trying to hold onto vets that have little impact on winning and will not alter a lottery team's trajectory in any positive way. And that's exactly the kind of vets Portland has

personally, the only 4+ year vet I'd be OK with Portland holding onto entering the season is Brogdon because of his ability to mentor young players and his lead-by-example capacity

Where we finish in three point shooting next year is entirely irrelevant.

Wins and losses matter, even in this upcoming season. Which players are getting experience matters.

Basing roster decisions on where we will rank next year in three point shooting, or blocks, or charges taken, or whatever... that's hopefully not something the Blazers will do.

    I was curious:

time of possession per touch: Ant 6.3 seconds....Klay 1.4 seconds
    dribbles/touch: Ant 4.82....Klay 1.36
    touches/game: 73.3....Klay 39.0

    so that means:

    time of possession/game:
    Ant 462 seconds = 7.7 minutes....Klay 55 seconds = 0.9 minutes
    dribbles/game: Ant 353....Klay 53

considering that Klay on crutches might be able to play better defense than Ant, I doubt the Warriors would view Ant as the kind of talent worthy of restructuring their offense and downgrading their defense

If Ant is coming off the bench his value will be lower. We can't expect to trade a bench player for a starting level player.
