Hire quality writers/directors/actors and it won't matter if they're black/white/gay/straight/man/woman whatever. Just create good content please. That's all I ask.
I don't remember if Rian Johnson was a star wars geek, but he ruined it, even worse than Disney did IMHO.
You ever see Sense8 on Netflix? Writers/directors/actors/cinemaphotographers and editors. I never knew how much the art of cinemaphotography and editing can add and advance a story. Truly mindblowing. Trigger warning for @beast crnjo, there are some LGBTQ characters in the story.
https://www.army.mil/article-amp/1645/female_soldier_receives_silver_star_in_iraq Just one quick example I learned when using google to prove what I already knew was the inevitable fact… Women do fight the wars.
Good thing The Hunger Games didn't have a female lead... It probably would have flopped... Also, Divergent
Pandering of any kind generally leads to poor quality product. The Great American Family network, for example was basically created by Candace Cameron Bure to pander to the MAGA base, as an alternative to the increasingly LGBTQ-friendly Hallmark channel. I had hoped that maybe they might put on quality programming that is also reflective of Christian values. Got the second without even coming close on the first. Thus, I don't waste my time on it. I think the point that Beastie Boy is clumsily trying to make is that it seems like many networks are so focused on pandering to minorities that they're not making the effort to actually generate quality product, assuming that demonstrating inclusiveness will be sufficient for profitability. If a show is good, nobody on either side of the aisle cares if it stars women, minorities, or gay characters.
They've always been focused on pandering, it's just weird that *now* all the sudden people are upset.
This video breaks it down. The problem isn't "female leads" the problem is this new kind of lame, shallow "strong female character".
This is absolutely true. Pandering isn't the problem. Trust me, as someone who works in Hollywood, I can safely say that without pandering there would be no Hollywood. What the OP is mad about is that some shows have the audacity to pander to people that look different than him, or that have a different sexual orientation than he does. There are tons of horrible programs that pander to white males, but does he come on here and complain about those? Of course not.
Make this ‘Star Trek’ motel part of a geeky getaway on the Oregon coast Looking to boldly go where … frankly, many men have gone before? Book a night in the uber-popular Star Trek room at the Itty Bitty Inn in North Bend on the southern Oregon coast. The Star Trek themed motel room places guests on the bridge of the original Starship Enterprise, complete with screen-accurate controls and wall-mounted communicators. Inn owner Rik Villarreal, an electrician by trade, has installed buttons and switches throughout the room that activate various sound and lighting effects. There’s a tri-dimensional chessboard, paper masks of your favorite Starfleet characters, a few tribbles hidden here and there, copies of the original movies to be watched in the room, viewing logs for all the original episodes, an owner’s manual for the Bird-of-Prey warship (written in Klingon) … and it only gets geekier from there. Ensign Rizzo — notable as the rare “red shirt” to survive an attack on an away mission — carries a towel rack. The bathroom has a 1930′s style in tribute to the time-travel episode “City on the Edge of Forever.” Two framed newspapers in the bathroom depict two realities — one where social worker Edith Keeler is killed, another where she meets with the president about her peace initiative. (Fans will get the reference.) “In the captain’s log, you’ll find signatures from people who worked on ‘DS9,’ on ‘Voyager,’ on ‘TNG,’” Villarreal said. Marina Sirtis, who played Counselor Deanna Troi, once stayed the night. Many of the guests come wearing their own cosplay, including Jeff and Jennifer Hunger, recent visitors from Chicago who booked the room a year in advance. “We’re huge Star Trek fans,” Jeff said while posing with a tribble and sharing a Vulcan hand salute. https://www.hereisoregon.com/places...t-of-a-geeky-getaway-on-the-oregon-coast.html
This is why I should never win the lottery because I would totally pay someone to film some Star Trek themed lesbian porn there in @beast crnjo 's name.
