I love Shaeden, was and am totally fired up about him and his potential. BUT...

I watched him give some local TV show a tour of his home one day last year. Beautiful of course, but he was just so mellow, or stoned, or chill or whatever. Enough that I thought "Man, he has no Mamba in him."

    That's my fear.

In addition, I also think it's silly to use a guy who's being touted as the next next Jordan as the benchmark against whom Sharpe is to be measured.

Edwards averaged 25-6-4 in his 3rd season and made the all-star game. He was 21

in his 2nd season, he averaged 21-5-4.

Sharpe didn't come close to matching the 2nd season of Edwards, and it's hard to imagine him averaging anywhere close to 25-6-4 next season. Of course, Edwards hasn't had to overcome the ball-hogging of Simons and Grant

well, is it fair within the context of this thread?

look at the poll: 0 votes for starter; 14 for occasional all-star; 41 votes for perennial all-star, all-NBA, and top-10 player. In that context, Edwards seems like a fair template to use

Sharpe didn’t come close to matching Ant’s second season? No shit. He only played about a third of a season because of injuries.

We’ve seen 1 and a third seasons of Sharpe playing basically rookie minutes. Sharpe has shown incredible athleticism. Beyond that, we don’t know what he’s capable of.

Yeah, but I’m not buying that next Jordan hype just yet. Let’s see him win a playoff series before we anoint as MJ’s heir apparent.

Didn't he just dominate a sweep of the Suns? I assume we shouldn't point out that MJ didn't win a playoff series until his fourth season, and didn't reach a CF until his 6th.

Was Sharpe killing to start the season until Ant showed up and the glut of guards/veterans kept the ball from him? That's how I saw it. And of course the injury. I can totally see a world where Shae averages that, but they have to clear the runway the way Minnesota did for Ant Edwards.

I recall seeing that and thinking "this guy wants to be in TOR". Of course that is 100% speculation.

I don't think he has to have that mentality to give us what we need. I know that TMac never won a title and neither has PG13 but if he can become a guy like either of those two I think that will be a great piece for us to have on this team... I won't be disappointed with him at all if that's who he ends up being. You know who else never seems to really give a fuck but also is amazing... SGA. Never seen the dude mean mugging, never even seen him hyped up after winning a game, just mellow with a bunch of dudes barking around him.

I really believe Scoot has great potential as a facilitator that's just enough of a scoring threat from all three levels to set up his passing but I also know that Scoot is a dog, he wants it and he wants it for the guys around him. Scoot can be in Shae's ear constantly one they get to that level where it's needed. Scoot can be Shae's hype man.

I also want to say that when Shaedon has been on the court without guys that the team (Cronin, Billups and broadcast team) doesn't label as better than him (Ant and Jerami) he has shown a willingness and hunger to dominate the game. People seem to forget that over the last 10 games of his rookie season Shae averaged over 24 ppg, over 6 rpg and over 4 assists per game. When Shae is told he's the guy, he acts like it... when he's shared the floor with guys like Malcolm he's shown up. Ball hogs like Ant and Jerami are what is standing in Shaedon's way... SGA didn't have to deal with that and TMac took a while (4 seasons) to step into his role. The fact is that if we want to see Shae and Scoot show us what they've got then at the very least Ant and Jerami need to be gone... dude's play like they're superstars and just aren't.

Whoops. Brain fart. He’s kind of getting handled by the Nuggets the last couple of games though.

Sharpe's ceiling right now is controlled by Chauncey Billups.

Who on this forum would have had a starting lineup to begin last season without Shaedon Sharpe in it, after how he finished his rookie season?

    What a joke.

If I were GM Chauncey would be gone.

    Starting Sharpe was a no-brainer.

If I were the GM, I would have traded Ant and Brogdon. Dealing with four guards who all deserve time was an impossible task. Saying all that, Chauncey is not the right coach for this team.

I would not worry too much about that. He averaged about 40 minutes/game in his next 10.

This is a make or break season for Sharpe -- period

Reason is we cannot keep hoping someone and this includes anyone on the roster if they cannot show something within 3 seasons on a consistent basis then I am not willing to play the "hope" game cause we played that game way too often with players in the past and that strat is part of the reason we are where we are right now.

I definitely wouldn't want to see him full-time at SF, but at the end of games, when we need an extra ball handler on the floor, I can see them going to a 3-guard lineup with him being able to defend the 3. I think he was listed at 205 last year. Another 5-7 lbs of muscle and he will be strong enough for sure to pull that off. (along with his 7' wing and crazy vertical)
