You get rid of guys who don't have as much potential and you play Sharpe and Scoot. And you give them developmental coaches and trainers. That's how you develop guys.

If you aren't willing to do that then you're going to end up with a Jermaine O'Neal situation. That was a tough situation because we thought we needed vets to win.

We don't need vets to win right now. Play Sharpe (and probably Scoot, but for sure Sharpe has proven he's a starting 2) and trade whoever necessary to clear that runway for them and use it to build that kind of potential at other positions.

But really you need Scoot and Sharpe developing together. As well as Ayton. Play those three together a ton.

Seems like they are already willing to do that.

Scoot averaged 28.5 minutes last year.
Shae averaged 33 minutes a game last year

In his 4th and last year in Portland Jermaine played 70 games and averaged 12 minutes a game. I don't think we need to worry about it.

Maybe because he was behind Rasheed Wallace, Brian Grant and Arvydas Sabonis? Scoot and Shae would be glued to the bench if they were behind Steve Smith/Bonzi Wells/Scottie Pippen et. al.

They need consistency, though, if you want them to develop. They didn't get consistency last season. And you can't have Ant and Grant playing "me ball" if you want Scoot and Sharpe to develop.

It's time for those guys to get flipped for young players with potential at positions of need or FRPs.

As they would deserve to be in that situation

You must have hated Jermain O'Neal's 3rd and 4th seasons as a Blazer.

What are you even saying, LOL.

First, you basically say we should put Sharpe on the trade block if he doesn't improve to franchise/all-star caliber this year.
Then, you turn around and say we should put all our eggs in the Scoot/Sharpe basket?

    Not a great take.

OMG -- learn to fucking read -- I will concede this take was not very well put together but i NEVER EVER EVER said Franchise / AS caliber --

I will own the fact I do wish I could go back and make a better post that was not all over the place and not explained better etc but again please do not put words in my mouth -- thanks

I will say the more I wrote about Sharpe the one thing became crystal clear to me is that outside of his personal growth the fact we have a HC in Billups that mishandled him at times has not helped him in his growth. This is why I started to pivot to the fact I was not sure Billups was the right coach for him but we shall see with new coaches in the fold.

Whyachi -- your right i was kind of like Cronin and good take from you -- LOL

He averaged 16 PPG last year in limited games and was getting better every day. What exactly then, is REAL GROWTH?

Assuming you meant all-star-ish caliber is not much of a leap from there.....

I will return and make a better well thought out post but scoring is only one facet of a players game and this team will need Sharpe to be a solid defender too and know how to put himself into better positions not to get beat and such. However like I said will circle back on this and make my point clear but hope no hard feelings.

yeah. A little more left hand and much more sudden and aggressive dribble-drives.

Sure, the competition wasn't up to NBA standards, but for those of us concerned about Shape's alpha mentality, that highlight reel was encouraging

Some context added to that is that Shae is obviously just getting some reps in after his GM has said twice this off season that his team is being built around him. Meanwhile that was everything Trey Burke was playing for this time last year, having already been out of the league for an entire season.

Shae had a game winning block last season. His defense is coming along fine.
