How many trades will the Blazer make on or before Draft night(s)?

If we did those trades Ant to Orland and Jerami and Malcolm to Philly and then managed to turn picks 18, 16 and 14 into pick 5 (Detroit only has one pick and a lot of needs). I'd be thrilled.

Adding Black, WCJ, Cody Williams and Salaun would be great for next season's roster and we'd have two unprotected picks. I probably like it too much so some might say it's too favorable for us but I think the other teams get a lot better and do so within the window that they've been building towards (Philly right now and Orlando in a couple of years).

Main issue with the idea is that I think Philly is gonna try to make a big swing first, but they might eventually come around to absorbing Grant/Brogdon as a consolation. It would just be well after the draft.

Philly traded Harden for those picks and has been planning the cap space for years. Thinking they'll use both on Grant is a total pipe dream.

They don't have time. They can't dick around with Embiid. He's 30 now. He has two years left including this season, and then a player option season. If they burn another season, I think he demands a trade. This is their last chance to go all-in on Embiid. I'm sure they want to get a superstar to pair up with him, but who is out there?

I think they should go the reverse, send Embiid to OKC for 2 million picks and J. Williams and build around him and Maxey

... and OKC will play Chet at the 4? Why would OKC want Embiid, they need someone that space the floor for SGA, Embiid needs to be operating a lot in the post not just outside to really make him the problem he is, so you either clog the middle for SGA or minimize what Embiid can do, I just don't see why OKC do that. OKC need a big backup center, not a starting center that stands in the way of Chet and does not mesh with their existing star.

Oh for sure. I would have traded him probably last year. I don't see a path for them to add another star player next to him. It feels very much like they're in the same spot that we were in with Dame.

OKC is rumored to be interested in Clingan.

I actually think it would be great for both Embiid and Chet to be on the same team because neither of them should be logging tons of minutes. How scary would it be for opposing teams to see those two guys 25-30 minutes a night?

Here's the thing for Philly, who are they gonna go sign?

    LeBron?
    Paul George?
    Klay Thompson?
    OG?

Most of this free agent class is a bunch of role players, and the "stars" at the top are all getting old and have injury issues. But even if they DID sign PG13, I think they'd have enough cap space to absorb Grant.

I mean, I'm sure there are other options, or better options. But yeah, I think they'd play really well together, and it would allow Chet to totally focus on just being that free safety type defender to float around the floor and wreak havoc.
I mean, everyone bitches about how short we have been, but I never see comments about how they trotted out a 6'5" PF

And OKC needs to start trading some of these picks. They're going to be in really deep shit here with roster spots.

Someone I trust told me it was Grant as well. But as other have stated, they don't make a good trade partner as they don't have good young players and the their future Draft capital isn't great. I would like a picks in 2025 and 2026, but those are likely to not be very good.

I agree with @Natebishop3 that a team with cap room and/or better Draft picks would be far more attractive.

Yeah, perfect backup center for Chet. Embiid is a star. Different animals.

So you are paying 2 max salaries sooner or later (in 2 years for Chet) for 2 guys that can't share the court and one of them can not be optimized without getting in the way of SGA? Again, I just don't see it. Presti is too smart to go that way. Not seeing it, honestly. I am seeing OKC optimizing by getting a good backup center with size while banking on Chet becoming stronger in his 3rd (2nd) year, not by getting a center that will get in Chet's way.

Almost 60% of his shots came from 10 feet and further from the basket. How is that clogging the paint exactly?

Maxey is way better than anyone on the Blazers recently, probably better than LMA.

Philly dream is probably get George and LBJ to both take some less to fit under the cap. Most likely they won't get a star and they just sign 2-3 rotation guys with cap space then aim to package one with picks at the deadline. Who knows, we'll see - but I'm certain their solution isn't to ship all their assets as well as sign nobody just to acquire Grant. If anything that would make it more likely they have to trade away Embiid and then they'd be stuck in a worse spot than doing nothing right now.

I'd expect they strike out on stars and end up with 3-4 rotation guys Caleb Martin/Hartenstein/Bruce Brown/KCP/etc then try to package picks with some at the deadline. Also depends on Embiid health - if he gets hurt they just tank for a year.
