I think the next pick LA can trade unprotected is in 2031.

17 this year has little if any value to me. So it would be a strict salary dump.

    Meh

I thought they could trade their 25 or 26?

Pelicans have their 25 pick (after they deferred the chance to get the 2024 one).

And as I understand it, as their 25 picks is outgoing, they will be forced to retain the 26 pick until after that draft (as per Stepien rule).

From what I gather, the 26 pick isn't trade-able either.

    My doubts are about 2029.

No id hope he’d have more value than that. Rui is overrated to me

Rui may be overrated, but he's more efficient than Grant, and needs the ball less.

I mean sure, if we can get a better return for Grant we should, but I don't really think Hachimura's a downgrade.

I think Rui is a pretty significant downgrade from Grant. And because of that, the Lakers would need to add a lot more value than him and #17. Not to mention, a 3 for 1 move doesn't make a ton of sense for Portland right now. Having the rights to 12+ guys who are bench/role players isn't my favorite strategy.

I agree, to be honest I think Brogdon and Grant could have similar impacts as Hart had on NY. I could see either of them having a big impact on playoff team.

I wouldn't say that. I think this one works well

    Grant
    for
    '29 pick + '31 pick + Rui + Vincent

I would evaluate what we could get for the pieces the Lakers were offering. I don't think Rui or Gabe Vincent are necessarily what our team needs. Maybe keep Vincent if you move Ant and Malcolm. How high of a pick does 17 and 14 get us in this draft? Are the Lakers willing to add their 2029 FRP to make this a fair trade?

No way do you take that deal in the tweet on its face value but it could be a place to start from and see if we can get what we want/need from what the Lakers are ultimately willing to offer for Jerami. If we just took Rui, Gabe and pick 17 we'd be fucking ourselves and giving the Lakers a sweetheart deal. Again though, it's not too far off in terms of value, just needs one other major piece and would need a third team.

    Here are the Lakers picks

    upload_2024-6-24_22-25-20.png

So NOP gets the 2025 pick.

Utah will most likely get the 2027 pick.

So they could do 2029 and 2031?

Lakers can keep #17... get 2029 or 2031 unprotected from them instead and we have a deal.

If they want protections then we need both picks.

Yeah Brogdon and Grant could have a huge impact for the right team. They are versatile enough to help a ton of teams, especially Brogdon.

Ant could help but its far fewer teams, Orlando would be one but there's many fewer options than Brogdon/Grant.

Ayton is the most difficult to envision him pushing a team over the hump, as his salary is so high and so few teams need centers. I'd consider him the least likely of the 4 to be traded. At the deadline if a team has an injury or next offseason would be far more likely.

Thybulle might be traded but doesn't have FRP value. Maybe he can bring tax relief and a 2nd.

    I'd think they are most to least likely to be traded in this order;
    Brogdon
    Grant
    Thybulle
    Ant
    Ayton

How about we add Brogdon to the Lakers trade, talk to D'Angelo agent so he picks up his option and we will work for a buyout, then get the Lakers 2029+2031 picks unprotected plus a 2030 swap unprotected? So pictured trade but with a 2031 unprotected pick

    upload_2024-6-25_8-45-5.png

    Lakers starting lineup is much better after the trade - can be a real contender;

    Brogdon
    Reaves
    Grant
    LBJ
    Davis

We control all Lakers 2029-2031 drafts

Then trade Ant to Orlando, two more picks plus gets us out of the tax.

    upload_2024-6-25_8-51-39.png

Blazers would continue to explore trading all of Ayton, WCJ, Hacimura, Vanderbilt, Vincent, Thybulle, Timelord. We can keep them into the season for their vet experience until the right deal comes along. Most likely a couple of them have a good year and become worth more.

We'd have increased our hoard of draft picks greatly going from 11 to 16!

    2025 Own
    2025 Denver
    2026 Own
    2027 Own
    2027 Orlando
    2028 Own
    2028 Swap Milwaukee
    2029 Own
    2029 Lakers
    2029 Boston
    2029 Milwaukee
    2030 Own
    2030 Swap Milwaukee
    2030 Swap Lakers
    2031 Own
    2031 Lakers

    (edit corrected Mil/Bos picks)
