I figured me, Arrowhead and GotSkillz needed a place to talk Mets Baseball. Today's game was amazing. 15-2. Pedro looked ok, didnt have his best stuff but he got us his 5 innings and since we had a 13-0 lead at the time we pulled him to keep him rested. He finally got his W that has eluded him since late April. Way too many no decisions, low scoring games and/or bad luck in there and hopefully he can pull off a streak of victories now ala Glavine. The offense....well, where shall I begin?Reyes walked 3 times today, unheard of for him and he stole 2 bases.Chavez is quickly turning into one of my favorite players, Great Defense, does the little things, can bunt/steal/sacrifice/and drop the hits in the clutch, always seems to come through. Beltran is amazing. I now see the player we signed away from Houston and damn is he good. .297 average (.406 OBP), 17 HR, 49 RBI, 12 SB and good D. If it wasnt for Jones and Edmonds he could have a legit shot at a Gold Glove. Delgado is coming out of his slump and that should scare alot of teams. David Wright is a great pure hitter. Batting .336 on the year and might compete for the batting title. Not to mention having good power to go along with it. Good clutch hitter. Milledge seems to be in a bit of a slump. Average has dropped to .256 but thats expected of a young player, lets see how he works himself out of it. Overall though Mets are 39-23 and 6.5 games in first place and its a good time to be a Mets fan after our 4 game sweep of the D'Backs.

Yup we did sweep the D-backs in 4 games. We showed them what a 1st place team looks like. Milledge has struggled and since Nady and Floyd are coming back then he'll be sent down. Next year we'll def see the arrival of Milledge. We just got a sneakpeak these past weeks. Beltran has been amazing. Just been named NL player of the week. Already surpassed his hr total from last year. We have been finally been able to see how good the mets offense can be when everyone is playing hot. Delgado has struggled lately but he did get his 2 doubles yesterday and the other day he got 2 hr's. As you said Chavez has been a godsend. He has amazing defense, speed, clutch hitting, and a great drag bunter. Alay soler and El duque have also been godsends. They both pitched CG's with less than 2 runs. Pedro finally got back on his winning track. If we take 2/3 then we'll put the phils away for a long time.

It's just his hits have been 2 walks and a HBP lately. Beltran = Not overrated. Where are all of those people now? [IMG] Soler and Duque have been good also, but El Duque worries me with his next start, he wasnt doing well in Arizona in their hitters park, and although he pitched a shutout his last time back he worries me in a hitters park like Philadelphia. Well see if hes changed or not. Alay Soler, well....he's the man. 16 Innings, 1 ER his last 2 starts. As for the Phillies, with Glavine, Duque and Trax we should be ok. I believe we get to miss Hamels and Lieber so that works in our favor.

Baseball Power Rankings: Mets on top<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Power Rankings: Mets showing they have answers for everythingUpdated June 13How well are things going for the Mets? Right now even bad news opens doors for more good. The back end of the rotation struggles and hits the DL en masse. Enter Cubans Orlando Hernandez and Alay Soler, who worked a pair of complete games on the road last week.Xavier Nady needs an emergency appendectomy and Cliff Floyd is again hobbling. Here comes one of the best prospects in baseball, the flamboyant Lastings Milledge. He hits homers, steals bases, throws out baserunners in key spots and gets the crowd on its feet. Not to mention feeding off their energy himself, high-fiving them in the middle of a game. (And was wrongly trashed for it, by the way.)The "Japanese A-Rod," (yeah, hardly) Kaz Matsui, hits a new low but Jose Valentin looks capable of filling the hole with a resurrected power bat. Matsui has been finally erased from memory, if not the payroll, getting sent to Colorado and Triple-A.Yeah, the Mets are finally the Big Apple of our eye in the Power Rankings.Call it East Coast bias -- and you might be right. But move over Yankees, there is a new No. 1 in town now and all of baseball. Break up the Mets.Yes, we were slow to recognize the strides of New York's other team, but too often the promise of a great winter has led to trouble and unfulfilled expectations.Case in point: Carlos Beltran. But we can even bury the hatchet on him as an overpaid, under-booed bust.Beltran, with protection provided by Carlos Delgado, is on pace for a career-high 45 homers, 130 RBI and 124 runs. He is also hitting near a career-best at .297 and is on a 31-steal pace. His .300-45-130-120-30 would easily go down as the greatest offensive season in Mets history and suddenly make $119 million look like a bargain.Delgado himself is working on a 47-homer, 119-RBI pace. And not to mention a 23-year-old named David Wright and his .336-29-116-106-23 pace. Wright could wind up being the best home-grown position player in franchise history. The Mets have loads of power and run-production potential. Youth and experience. Speed and defense. Pitching and bullpen. The complete Power Rankings for June 13:POWER RANKINGSCurrent Team Previous 1 New York Mets 5They hold the biggest cushion in baseball, even if they don't have the best record and have holes to fill.</div>http://www.sportsline.com/mlb/story/9495945

Didn't want to make a new topic about this but are you guys surprised with the Tigers this year? They were one of the worst team for years and look how good they're playing. They could knock out the Chicago White Sox outta the playoffs if another wild-card team beat them out as long the Tigers are a lock lol

I expect Bonderman and Rogers to fall back to earth in the second half and they finish just out of the playoffs.

HR derby in philly rite now. Mets leading 5-4 in the 6th. Bradford took us out of a bases loaded jam. Our bullpen is well rested so i expect em to shut em down. NOW BASES LOADED WITH NOBODY OUT.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Mets win 8th straight behind Wright's three-run homerPHILADELPHIA (AP) -- The New York Mets sent a clear message to the Philadelphia Phillies: Start thinking wild card.David Wright hit a three-run homer and the Mets won their eighth straight game, getting off to another fast start to beat the fading Phillies 5-4 Thursday.Steve Trachsel pitched six effective innings and the NL East-leading Mets (42-23) extended their lead to 9? games over second-place Philadelphia by completing a three-game sweep. They finished 9-1 on their road trip against the Los Angeles Dodgers, Arizona Diamondbacks and Phillies.New York set a major league record by winning its eighth consecutive game on the road when scoring in the first inning. The 1939 Yankees did it seven consecutive games. The Mets' streak of eight straight games scoring in the first is a team record, and the eight consecutive wins are their most during any road trip."If you would've told me in spring training that we'd have a 9?-game lead at this time of year, it would've been a good dream," general manager Omar Minaya said. "But there's a lot of baseball left. You sleep a little better 9? games up. You give yourself a cushion."Pat Burrell hit a pair of homers for the Phillies, who fell to 33-33 with their sixth loss in seven games. The Mets appear poised to run away with the division title and end Atlanta's unprecedented string of 14 straight division championships. The Braves began the day 12 games behind.Trachsel (4-4) allowed four runs and six hits in six innings. Aaron Heilman and Duaner Sanchez followed with perfect innings, and Billy Wagner finished for his 14th save in 17 chances. The Phillies came into the series hoping to narrow the gap in the standings. Instead, they lost the first two games and fell behind 4-0 in the first inning of this one. A showdown for first place turned into a showcase for the Mets."We just have to keep going," Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said. "There's a lot of games left, but when you get 10-12 games back, it can be hard."Jose Reyes led off against Cory Lidle (4-6) with a single and scored on Endy Chavez's double to left-center. Carlos Delgado walked with one out and Wright followed with his 14th homer to make it 4-0.Wright's shot landed in the flower bed just over the left-field wall, giving him homers in three straight games and extending his hitting streak to nine games. Wright is batting .395 (15-for-38) with four homers and 12 RBI during that stretch."To be able to take four in a row in Arizona and three straight here shows that we're not settling," Wright said. "We didn't settle for taking two out of three. That says a lot about a team. It shows we're hungry."Burrell homered leading off Philadelphia's second, and Sal Fasano's two-out double scored Ryan Howard to cut it to 4-2.Reyes led off the fifth with a double, moved to third on a sacrifice by Chavez and scored on Carlos Beltran's sacrifice fly to make it 5-2.The Phillies closed to 5-4 on Burrell's two-run drive in the fifth. With two outs, Bobby Abreu extended his hitting streak to 14 games with a single. Burrell then drove a 3-2 pitch into the seats in left-center for his 18th homer and 35th against the Mets. But the Phillies didn't get a runner on the rest of the game, with 13 batters in a row going down."Our bullpen did a tremendous job," Mets manager Willie Randolph said.A sellout crowd of 45,102 was the largest of the season and second-biggest in the three-year history of Citizens Bank Park. It included thousands of Mets fans who cheered loudly for their team. Philly fans finally drowned out chants of "Let's Go Mets!" with the familiar chant of "E-A-G-L-E-S!"If the Phillies continue their losing ways, they'll have plenty of empty seats when the Eagles begin training camp next month."We're good enough to be in every game, but bad enough not to win," Lidle said.Lidle left after Ramon Castro singled leading off the seventh. The right-hander allowed five runs and six hits in six innings. Frustrated with his performance, he threw his glove against the dugout wall as he walked off the field.</div>http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=260615122

Its unbelievable that theyre doing this with Floyd batting horribly. He was the 2-3rd MVP on that team. Clutch hitting with a lot of hrs and rbi's. They would be even better offensively if Floyd was playing like last year.
