No, you get as much talent as possible and you give that talent as much developmental help as possible. We don't need to worry about building anything until we have guys who are proving it on the floor. Ant is not part of that future, IMO. Nobody can prove anything onwthe floor with Ant playing me ball. Agreed. I think there is a possibility we MAY be able to get more for him next draft on a draft day deal. But probably not if he loses his starting role to Scoot, Sharpe, or Brogdon. It doesn't assume anything except that Ant isn't a part of the future and that getting them more minutes playing as featured players would be good for their development. Can you say that Dame wouldn't have been a worse defender if he had been surrounded by bad defenders? Did it make him a better defender than Ant, who turned into a poor man's Dame? Maybe. Dame had the ball in his hands early in his career. He wasn't watching the highest paid players on the team go 1 on 5 half of his time on the court. I'm not planning for them to be stars. I'm planning for giving them as many developmental opportunities as possible so they will reach thwir maximum potential as Blazers. Nobody has suggested coddling anybody.
Yes, you have to put the ball in the hoop to win. But Cronin appointed Ant the best player on the team. You would think that he learned from Dame that having your “best” player be your worst player at 50% of the game is not a recipe for success. And I would add, Lillard to Milwaukee seems to be a train wreck for the Bucks. Holiday to Boston wins an NBA title.
When did he say it? Things change and GMs don't always tell the truth. I would not get too hung up on it.
Because look at the offensive stats of the rest of the team. Most of the team was well below the league average in terms of TS%. Plus Ant and Grant missed a lot of games, but they at least managed to hit the league average in TS%. Your role players should be BETTER than average efficiency because they are opportunistic scorers.
First off, you didn’t make any judgment of that, ofcourse you didn’t, we can see you bashing Ant and his defense left and right here, he is stunning growth of Scoot and Sharpe which is pure bs, and found a stat that fits your argument, that’s why you posted it. Once again, based on that site that uses bs stats to form a rating is hilarious
Lol. Why are you carrying his jock? Ant sucks at defense. That's not some new revelation. I didn't make any judgement based on that link. I saw a post and shared it. Blazers offense sucks. If Ant is so great, how is that possible? Why do Scoot, Sharpe, and Ayton all have drastically reduced production when playing with Ant? But both Ayton and Sharpe explode without him? Ant isn't going to help this team. Nobody is saying we need to cut him. But he doesn't have a ton of value either. Hanging on to him at this point is encouraging more poor performances from Ayton, Scoot, and Sharpe. If we want those 3 guys to play below their capabilities then yes, keeping Ant is good. That's why I'm suggesting we should make it a priority to trade him for a good lotto pick or player at a position of need.
I don't want Sharpe, Scoot, and Ayton to work on cleaning up Ant's scraps. I want them getting experience running the team. And I'd prefer if they could do that more than a few minutes per game. Look at the difference in Scoot, Sharpe, and Ayton's offensive efficiency with Ant on the floor compared to without him. Then look at it with Grant on the floor and without him. Let us know what you find.
I didn’t read half of what you said, that’s just your opinion, and you just rambling bs now. Ant isn’t going to help this team? Our offense sucks at times because of what the product was like on the team, and new flash our offense was worse when Ant was out, we never had a full healthy team for a many stretches. 3 guys playing below their capabilities? Um this is dumb. How many games did Ant, Scoot and Sharpe play together? I’ll wait. At one point in the season Sharpe was leasing the NBA In minutes played. Try again with you bs narrative. To be hating on Ant so much and posting meaningless bs stats links fits the narrative you want to push is cringe.
Well, this is all my opinion. But if you aren't reading what I'm writing then I'm not going to read what you're writing and we can just agree to disagree. No worries.
Because you can't answer anything, that’s why. and just want to make Ant a scapegoat which is wrong. This team has many issues, stop making Ant the scapegoat. I guess you think it’s Ant fault he got hurt and Scoot stunk the joint up in the many games before Ant game back. He isn’t ready yet, point blank. Maybe you should blame Scoot for his poor offense rating and stats as to why our offense sucks, yet again you don’t sound like a smart one lol.
Ironic this Ant bashing showed up TODAY! We should all pray to get a player as talented as Ant today in the draft. Not a chance.
Yes, because there are zero players in this draft that are talented enough to have gone 24th in 2018... You could at least try to make sense.
yup and pushed more by one guy with bias googles. Typical forum, always must make someone a scapegoat.
Lol. This isn't personal. I'm not making Ant anything. He is a poor man's Dame, but worse at defense not even close to as effective offensively. We already tried that. If Scoot isn't the answer then we'll have an opportunity to draft or trade for somebody better. Ant isn't the kind of player I would build around. He dominates the ball far too much and is far too bad at defense. If we already had an established team and he were coming off the bench it might be okay. We suck. We're going to get the opportunity to draft a lot of talent. We don't have to settle for an incomplete players like Ant. That's all this is.
If only it was just today......... instead of every fucking day. The need for a whipping boy gets old.
I like Ant but I am starting to wonder if he is in the same boat as Dame cause I am not sure he fits on this team anymore cause I think the backcourt should be Scoot and Sharpe , The reason I am not a fan of a Scoot , Ant and Sharpe at the three is I am not sold at all that Sharpe can defend other 3's on a consistent basis so I think he would be better at the SG spot like 80% of the time with the rest maybe at the three spot. This being said as much as I think it's time to consider moving Ant I am not for just trading him for a box of rocks either. I think he is worth a couple of firsts and 1 up and coming player and maybe a low paid vet too but I do think it's time to explore it.
