I'm not so sure he's a good shooter... at least from beyond the arc. If there's an upward trend, then that's good. He's a below-average free throw shooter (average last year was 78.9%) so last year might have been a bit of an aberration beyond the arc (like we saw with Thybulle, who (at 33.8%) is actually better at 3s in his career than Deni.
Ya I saw a Wizards fan say he averaged 19/9/4 as their best defender the 2nd half of last year. That is impressive for his age and worth gambling on. His contract is so good I think it's a good bet we'd be able to move him for more than we paid to get him in a season or two.
Yeah, I'm holding out hope that there's an agreement in place that lets us trade up to 2 if Sarr is there. I would really like a starting lineup of Scoot, Shae, Avdija, Sarr and Ayton with Sarr rotating up to the 5 a lot with Bari or Tou at the 4.
I really hope he flourishes here. I can’t help but think of Mario Hezonja. I know they’re different players but I just remember having higher hopes for Hezonja.
Feels like a steep price to pay for a guy still figuring it out. Maybe I just still have an exposed nerve from all those Olshey overpays for good but not good enough trade targets. I'm sure the bigger part of giving up so much is the contract and getting out from under the cap.
Yes, he is a young guy who had a breakout season where he showed what he's capable of. Welcome to the NBA.
